Re: Transfer old comp info to new comp w/external hard drive HELP
Temporary solution: I did a full clone of the hard drive with a program called Macrium Reflect (free), and am currently using a HDMI cable to see the display on my HD TV.
Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it.

Re: Transfer old comp info to new comp w/external hard drive HELP
I appreciate your reply but several days ago I started this thread [url]https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=66731[/url]

I admittedly don't have any expertise in this and just want my programs back.Re: Transfer old comp info to new co...n here wanting

Transfer old comp info to new comp w/external hard drive HELP
I am wanting to try this but need advice and a free [if possible] program to do it.
1 1/2 year old HP Notebook with a faulty screen and all my data/programs ect. Windows 10 with all the updates. I want to transfer my data ect. to another working HP laptop just a little newer. It has windows 10 with all the updates also (both are registered to me) and practically nothing extra on it.
I have a new USB to SATA/IDE drive adapter, all the cables, and power supply [if needed], and a 500GB ATA hard drive that is fairly new. I do know how to format/clean it.
Do I need...

Re: Two HP notebooks parts swap?
Thanks dmill89 for your reply. I guess I will have to find another path to follow to get my files and programs swapped.
I appreciate the expertise in your reply.

Re: Two HP notebooks parts swap?
All I need to know is if the swap is compatible - the touch screen part is not wanted. Both comps have identical updated windows 10.

Two HP notebooks parts swap?
I have two HP notebook comps, cheap models, one has touch screen and the other is identical without touch screen. They are both 13 months old.
The touchscreen has a bad connection in it somewhere and is a pain to hold in an operating position. What I want to try is to take the hard drive out of the touch screen one and put it in the non touch screen comp. I didn't care for the touch screen anyhow.
The touchscreen model number is X7T50UA#ABA
The non-touch scr model number X7T78UA#ABA
I know that it's my fault for buying cheap stuff and it won't happen again.
The...

Multiple 555 timer question
I want to know if I can trigger three 555 timers (one shot mode for all) from one trigger source on pin 2.
Timer A, timer B, and timer C to all start at the same time from one one second trigger push. They will then time out at different times (which I can set)
Yes, I know it will work in my experiment but that was a short time. I want this to work indefinitely (one or two triggers every hour or two) for a couple years.
To try to make it clearer - a motion detector is triggered. The aux. contacts close for a second or two and triggers all the 555's. Timer A stays...Last edited by zalmaflash; 09-02-2016, 10:45 PM.

Re: Full wave rectifier question for a power supply
Thanks for all the answers. I have a lot to consider (and learn).
The only cap I have in my circuit is a smoothing cap on the primary.
My transformer is a 250 va.
I have my bridge rect. on a 4"sq. heat sink which is 5/8" thick, fins verticle, plenty of compound, and the fan is 1/2" from fins.
I just didn't want to burn up the bridge. (again)

Full wave rectifier question for a power supply
This may seem simple or moronic but I honestly don't know.
I made a power supply [24v] to run some of my battery tools with bad batteries.
My transformer [120 X 24] is plenty big, I convert to 24vdc with a KBPC2510 Bridge rectifier, heat sink w/paste, and a 24vdc fan.
The rectifier still gets hot after a few min. with my sawzall. I stop and let it cool, and then continue.
I tried another identical rectifier and the same thing.
Here is my question. Can I put two Bridges [identical] in parallel to help eliminate the heat...

Re: Samsung PN64E8000 won't come on
As a follow-up on my 8000, I disconnected the Y main (which also disconnects the X because of the harness) and the green light acts normally on the 1 second intervals. Therefore the problem is in whatever that harness feeds. I unplugged the X from the Y (on the Y board) board and still had the fault [relay click/blink led] so I removed both buffer bds from Y, plugged it back in and relay click / blink/ click / blink / etc.
So having repaired the power supply - now the Y main is faulty and on inspection - absolutely nothing is out...

Re: Samsung PN64E8000 won't come on
I'm not an expert by any stretch but I think that a temp controlled 6" fan would have extended the life dramatically. Lots of heat.

Re: Samsung PN64E8000 won't come on
I have exactly the same Samsung as NWCS. 2 1/2 years old, power supply has/had multi cold solder joints which dealt me a fit in the normal on/off/on/off way. Repaired them all and in less than a week - no power. Bought another power supply [exchange] installed it and in about a week it did the black screen but I still had standby [red light] and on power-up the red light went out and the green LED on the logic board is ON for 5 sec. and OFF or 1 sec. and repeat.
I'm done with it, replaced with a Sony Ultra 64".

I'm new but follow directions closely
Hello everyone. My real name is Russ but I earned the name zalmaflash. Actually the smoke comes first - then the flash. I just like to repair things and found this forum on Google looking for an answer to help me with a Samsung Plasma.
Well, off to do some reading.
