    I have an E6540 with a very similar problem and I know the post is nearing a year old now, but I was wondering if you could let me know how you flashed the BIOS to correct the problem? I have searched and found nothing on how to do it from a blank screen (the usual flash drive and a certain key combo). Strangely enough, the D-key and power performs the LCD test which shows good and I found by luck that pressing a function key and power gets me into the BIOS! Everything looks good, but there is no way to update the BIOS (on A27 anyway) from that menu. Once I exit, it’s...

    I know this is an old thread, but I have this model that failed recently with the same measurements on CN201 and CN301. After tracing through the power supply, since I had no schematic, I discovered that D106 had a diode mode reading of 1.39V instead of around .59V. This diode, just a 1N4007, had a cathode reading of .27V when the unit was plugged in.
