Re: Sceptre 409BV-FHDU8HJ1L02 dead
Well, the backlight wasn't coming on at all. Initially, after replacing the power board, the tv worked/ But, the next day, I used it and after a short period, the screen went black with just sound. After that, it would just have sound, no image.
I can test the transformer, I just don't know how to. There are 4 pins, can you instruct me on which to get the resistance? pins 1 and 3 have continuity, pin 1 and 4 are separated from everything else it seems.

Is that board more than likely the problem?

It seems pins 1 and 3 are connected, but I can't find what 2 and 4 connect to.

I am not sure how to test for this. There are 4 connections on those transformers, which ones are the secondary?

So for this inverter transformer, is that something I can get to and successfully fix?

Here is a picture of the whole back. The individual boards can be seen in one of the first posts, but if you'd like, I can take additional ones.
Between VBL +/-, there is 0V registered with me turning it on and off....

Well that's good news then.
Alright, where else should I look to figure this out?

Does that still imply the PFC Voltage booster is not working?

The main cap registered 160V off, 391V on

Alright - the BLon when the tv is off is 2 mV, when I turn it on, the voltage is 3.39v
The Adj voltage, when the screen is off, is 3 mV, when I turned it on, it jumped to 4.57V, but then dropped and stayed at 1.27V.

Hey good news I think. I believe it is the backlight now. I was able to see the Sceptre logo on startup when I had a light on the screen.

Cool, thanks. I will do that tonight. Just a little more background - The tv had sound, but no image. I checked with a flashlight, but didn't see anything. The front led does change from red to blue when I press the power on.
I'll let you know the results of that stuff tonight.

Re: Sceptre 409BV-FHDU8HJ1L02 dead
Ok, so, I replaced the power supply. Success... sort of..
It worked for a night just fine. I thought I was in the clear, but the next day, we were watching it and the screen turned off, though we still had sound. I unplugged it, plugged it back in and had image again. However, after we turned it off that night, it hasn't given me an image back. I still have sound, but the screen wont turn on.
Think you could help me troubleshoot this?

Yeah, true. I was checking for solder issues and measuring some of the other caps. So, what are your thoughts?

Re: Sceptre 409BV-FHDU8HJ1L02 dead
So, right now I am getting nothing. I measured with two different DMM. When I measured it earlier in this post, I had 166.5V.
So partial side story, when I was getting the measurements, I had the power board on its side. I guess I pushed it a bit too much, and something grounded with the back of the tv (i think). There was a spark and the fuse to the room popped.
