Re: Bad caps on an M-audio DSM2 power supply
I'll keep that in mind, sam_sam_sam. Now that I was able to remove it from the case (had to dremel it out) pulling it out next time will be a cinch.
Thanks.

Re: Bad caps on an M-audio DSM2 power supply
Thought I'd update. It was actually the capacitor at C27 on the right hand of the board. It looked perfectly fine to the eye, but others who had this problem said that was the one to replace. So I swapped it out and the speaker is working fine again.
Thanks for all of your help here.

Re: Bad caps on an M-audio DSM2 power supply
Thanks, PeteS, that helps. They have the powerboard glued to the base of the cabinet, so I gave up this morning trying to get it out.
What's really odd is that I run these speakers upside down so the tweeter is closer to my ear—which also puts the circuitboard above the caps. Can't figure out how anything would have seeped out upwards against gravity.
I'll work on it. I appreciate your reply.

Bad caps on an M-audio DSM2 power supply
Attached is a picture of my board from my speaker. Does it looks like a capacitor blew? It also looks like it damaged some of the transistors.
Oddly, it still works, but is standby mode for about five minutes then begins to work. It used to come on instantly.
BTW, this board helped me with an LG plasma about five years ago and it is still working!...

Re: Dark Bar across plasma?
Thanks, tom66. Yeah, I couldn't find anyone else having this particular problem when it came to plasmas.
The power-save mode must have reset whatever went wrong. I'll post back if it returns.

Dark Bar across plasma?
My in-laws tv started doing this today (see attachment.) TV is a LG Plasma 50PA4500-UM.
Any ideas as to what board may have gone bad?
BTW, this forum helped me fix my 60" plasma several years ago and it is still working today. Thank you.
UPDATE** My sister-in-law told my wife she put it in power save mode and the problem went away. Still interested in anyone's thoughts. Thanks....

Re: Can't find LG main board... help
Yes, you were instrumental in getting it fixed. And buying a new board would have been easier, but I was at a dead end, (or spend $175) which they are not worth.
Thanks again. We'll be enjoying it tonight. And the kids' tv will go back on the back porch.Last edited by Umbrella Corp; 12-29-2015, 04:25 PM.

Re: Can't find LG main board... help
Success at last!
I was encouraged via pm by member jgrise to try the oven method to reflow the board and IT WORKED! I now have a working television again thanks to reeceyburger123 troubleshooting it and jgrise encouraging me to try the method and fix it.
BTW, per JG's advice I used 385 degrees for 10 minutes (putting it in the cold oven and starting the 10 minutes when it reached the full temp.)
It did melt the SPDIF shut on the board (which I thought was hilarious.) I never use it anyway so I could have...

Re: Can't find LG main board... help
Yeah. I found one in Canada that's used and it will be $175 just to get it here. I may go for it, but I have some other emails and calls out.
Thanks again. I figure I just have some hunting to do.

Re: Can't find LG main board... help
ReeceyBurger123,
Sorry to bother you again, but I actually have been looking it up under both numbers and have found dozens of places that are out of stock.
The only reason I put the ebt number was because the people at My Shop TV told me to.
Here's what I wrote and their reply.
Dear My Shop TVs,
Attached are two pictures of a main board I’m trying to locate. The part number is EAX63546403(1)

Unfortunately we don't have this part in stock, but when...

Can't find LG main board... help
A member of this forum was kind enough to help me troubleshoot the problem with my LG 60PZ550.
The part I need is: ebt61533403 (the main board) but I can't find one supplier in the US that still has this part.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thank you in advance....

Re: Purple/Pink Lines / Postering on plasma LG 60PZ550
So the mainboard is the same board that I jumpered on?
BTW, thank you for all of your help, ReeceyBurger123. It's been tremendous.
Guess my search will start in US. And can I use the same board that's on the 60PZ550-UA?Last edited by Umbrella Corp; 12-26-2015, 01:36 PM.

Re: Purple/Pink Lines / Postering on plasma LG 60PZ550
Okay first I get a pure full screen Red, Green, Blue, white then a bar moving right to left and bottom to top shoing gradients. Then finally a white bar moving across black bothe vertical and horizontal.
All the colors are brilliant and pure. The gradients look pure, too.
Sorry about the reflections....

Re: Purple/Pink Lines / Postering on plasma LG 60PZ550
Are the test patterns built into the set?
If they are, I'll take it off and get back to you.
And just so you know my proficiency with electronics, I don't have any specialized TV equipment, but I do build all my own computers, and have spent a lot of time replacing Samsung capacitors on monitors boards. If that helps.
