Re: Soundstage powered 12" home subwoofer
Thanks for replies.
I wish I could have the amp in front of me to trace the circuit but it's thousands of miles away.
My son went and got a few 220mfd 25v caps and before I could get him to measure any voltages he put one in and it started smoking as soon as plugged in.
There are 2 power supplies +/- 60v.
These are dropped to +/-15v supplies are the power feed for the other audio processor circuit board.
The -15v power measures good. There is a 220mfd cap in the same position in the -15v circuit....

Soundstage powered 12" home subwoofer
My Son sent me these pics. Capacitor blowed up...any thoughts on what the value might be?
Not much left of it to identify but he says the can is same size as 220mfd 25V caps on the board. Safe bet to try to replace with one of that size?
There is no model number on the box....

Re: Help with Toshiba (Best Buy) 55L621U
Thanks. You're probably right. I've never run into having bad leds and not being able to see the screen with a flashlight, never had one that shutdown the power supply but no matter, I was getting ready to take the panel out to test the leds and cleaned the screen and once it was wet I noticed a hairline crack right where the dark part of the screen starts. No point taking any screws out and proceeding further.

Help with Toshiba (Best Buy) 55L621U
My friend dropped off his Toshiba (Best Buy) 55L621U for me to try to fix.
Here is a list of the measurements I took.
When first plugged in...
Toshiba splash screen is displayed then goes away after 6 seconds.
Power LED blinks 9 times, then goes off after about 45 seconds.
My friend said the right 1/3rd of the screen was green. I can't keep it powered on long enough to see for myself but the right 1/3rd of the splash screen is dark. Could the panel be bad?
LEDS on 6 seconds, Voltages on 6 seconds.
Nothing on flashlight test.
No response from...

Re: HP laptop 15-ba026ca display issue
Was just about to order the correct p/n screen model when a used V8.0 version popped up for sale, dirt cheap. I took a chance and it fits and works perfectly. I guess that answers the question for that one. It originally came out of an Acer. HP used the opposite mounting holes. Other than that, it's identical....

HP laptop 15-ba026ca display issue
Having an issue with the display in 15-ba026ca. The right half of the screen will disappear. If I press on the lower left area of the front bezel I can make the pic come back. I have some folded up paper stuck between the bottom of the screen and the bezel. It keeps pressure in the area where the bad connection is but the picture still messes up from time to time.
At first it seemed that the issue occurred when moving the lid, so I thought it was the cable going from the motherboard to the display, I replaced it, it wasn't the cable.
The display panel has a 30 pin connector...

Re: Samsung UN60J6200AFXZC LEDs bad?
Thanks budm. That would put the LEDs seeing about 3.9 volts on each of them. I'll set the backlight as low as possible after repair.
Thanks to everyone who replied....

Re: Samsung UN60J6200AFXZC LEDs bad?
That's what I thought, just looking for confirmation. I figured that 12 strips with 7 leds each at 3 volts the LED supply voltage should be more like 252 volts. Thanks....

I ordered a LED tester. Won't be here for a few weeks. Can anybody answer my original question? Thanks in advance.

Samsung UN60J6200AFXZC LEDs bad?
Samsung UN60J6200AFXZC has no backlight. Passes flashlight test and has sound.
The led strips part numbers are listed as BN96-29074A/BN96-29075A and there are 12 in the set.
Pin 1 of LED connector to chassis has 418 volts DC, rest of pins show 0VDC.
Would 418 volts be the LED power supply open circuit voltage and indicate an open circuit in the LED string?...

Rosewill RV-600 power supply fixed...
Rosewill RV-600 power supply shut down PC today.
Tested it using my power supply tester.
12V supplies were 11.8V and -12V was -11.1V
Replaced bulging C12, was a 1000μfd 16V. Replaced with 25V rated cap.
Tweaked up the +12V using the only trim pot on the board. the -12V came up to -11.4.
Cooling fan was close to seized, cleaned/lubed the bearing/shaft.
Reinstalled. Working good.
PC seems much faster after badcap was replaced.

Re: Samsung UN40H5203AF LED backlight blinking
Ok, are you saying each of the 3 strips are in parallel, with the leds on each strip being in series. If that was the case then an open on one strip would only affect that strip.
I haven't seen a circuit diagram for this set but others I've looked at had all the LEDs in series and the strips were either jumped to create a series circuit at the power supply connector or inside the panel. Given the led power supply voltage involved I figured all the leds were in series.

Re: Samsung UN40H5203AF LED backlight blinking
Hate to argue but current cannot flow through an open LED. Once one LED goes open none of the LEDs connected in the series chain would be able to light....Last edited by imaddicted2u; 10-12-2019, 04:25 PM.

Re: Samsung UN40H5203AF LED backlight blinking
Correct me if I'm wrong, all the LEDS are in series? if one LED was open, none would light...right?
Thanks as usual, budm, That's the plan, the bottom strip must have all LEDs shorted. The other two strips have a few in each shorted...The video doesn't do it justice, some of the LEDs blew pretty violently....

Re: Samsung UN40H5203AF LED backlight blinking
Thanks,
Good thing my main tv is Samsung and the menus structure is nearly the same. I was able to feel around with a flashlight until I found the backlight setting. It was at max = 20. I turned it down to = 5.
It made a difference. The backlights still blinks but stays on for a split second longer so the display can be seen.

Samsung UN40H5203AF LED backlight blinking
Samsung UN40H5203AF LED backlight is blinking on and off. Set doesn't turn on.
If I unplug the LEDS from the power LED driver board, the set turns on, has sound and it passes the flashlight test.
On the BN44-00769C Power Supply / LED Board shows the LED supply voltage should be 151.8v at 425ma with the LEDs connected but I can't get good measurements on the LED connector with the LEDs blinking.
With the LEDs disconnected the open circuit voltage on pins 1 and 2 (D+) to chassis is 211v.
I thought I'd post to ask if the problem is more likely to be the LED strips or...

Re: Samsung 40" LCD tv model LN40B610A5FXZA new problem
Yes it is that kit.
My original intent was to mount the strips vertically but they were too long.
I thought where the leds are doubled up in the middle might have an adverse effect but it's not particularly noticeable.
It was lucky that the 13 volt supply to the inverter section of the Samsung power supply board was fed through a jumper so it was easy to snip and connect the 13 volts to the LED inverter. I took the inverter on/off pin out of the power supply board connector and hooked it to...
