Wooooooo! Removed the left side driver tabs and perfect picture! THANK YOU all so much I definitely couldn't have done it without freakaftr8. Thanks for being so responsive and helpful. I have it fully set up and looking great with cable through HDMI.

Thanks again for the feedback. I have re-seated all ribbon cables multiple times and cleaned the cables and connectors with IPA. Still same results. The first picture is the result with the LEFT side corner ribbon cable removed. The second picture is the image with BOTH side corner ribbon cables removed. I am hesitant to plug in only the left corner cable as that is certainly the offending side and I don't want to smoke a TCON. Thanks freakaftr8, I'm ready to pull the left drivers off tonight. But what about my TCON? Is it possible to get the image I am getting with a blown FET? I'm going to replace the FET on one of my tcon's today but am still worried I could be replacing the wrong FET as my board is different. When I power on after pulling the drivers, is there a possibility for more damage if I power on with a bad TCON? Or will I notice some image artifacts of some sort?

Good call Budwich thanks for the idea it made things more obvious. I repeated the test with the test pattern displayed and the left 90deg ribbon cable removed. The first picture is the test pattern I used. The second picture is the TV picture with the test pattern displayed. I used my laptop and HDMI to display the test pattern so the black regions on each edge of the TV are due to the different aspect ratios. I'm very convinced now it has bad left side drivers and I'm very tempted to pull them out.

Thanks everyone for your input. Sorry for the ambiguity of which ribbon cables I removed in my previous post.
--I repeated the test with the TCON board fully connected and only the LEFT bottom corner 90deg ribbon cable removed (as seen in the first picture).
--The results of that is the second picture.
--Still a good image on the right side but looked identical as when I had all ribbon cables connected (see image 3).
--The 4th picture is the results when I didn't have either of the corner 90deg ribbon cables...Leave a comment:

I have a Sony KDL-70R550A which so nicely uses the Sharp display for their 70". I have been troubleshooting it based on other threads and freakaftr8's help and I finally stumbled upon this thread.
I have attached 3 images to this post. The first image is the result when I removed the left TCON ribbon cable and leaving in the right TCON ribbon cable. The second picture is when I removed the right TCON ribbon cable and left in the left cable. This led me to believe there was a problem with the right...Leave a comment:

My apologies for the long reply time. I finally got around to doing my ribbon cable tests and have found some telling evidence (see attached photos).
With the right ribbon cable removed (see image of ribbon orientation), the right half of the screen worked perfectly and showed the correct picture while the left half of the screen was white. When I removed the left ribbon cable and re-inserted the right ribbon cable, the screen had strange green and yellow vertical stripes on the left half...Leave a comment:

Hi there, I'm new here but have been following many threads to attempt to repair my Sony Bravia KDL-70R550A. My symptoms are identical to schulte2000 above me: No image/blank screen, possibly no sound but hard to confirm, Backlight ON, green status light responds to remote commands.
