Hello. I have found the articles in reference to the 550, and my internals are identical to the images in the other thread, so I believe my issue is the same cold solder joint issue.

My question is in reference to the repair. When I attempted to use my 30 watt iron, it didn't affect the existing solder. Granted, it is an old iron, and may not be operating at normal temps.

My question is what would be the appropriate heat needed to reflow the solder? I am always concerned that my 100 watt gun would generate too much heat and damage a component.
