Re: Sony XBR-65X850E power supply board diode replacement
So, the power supply board is good. The TV boots up and a solid blue line shows up on the right side of the screen centered on a 6 inch black vertical bar. I attached a pic to see. I don't have the remote from the tv so I can't go any farther with the tv setup. Everything up this point seems to be working. Volume, horizontal lines are good. Rest of the screen is good vertically.
The blue line brightens and dims in intensity but the black vertical bar never goes away.
Any help is greatly ap...

Re: Sony KD-55X7000G black vertical bar
Did you ever resolve this issue? I have a panel with a blue line surrounding by a black vertical band like this except its over to the right a few inches.

Re: Sony XBR-65X850E power supply board diode replacement
That’s correct. Typo indeed. The discolored one is D750.
So all four should be the same? Any way to confirm they are Schottky 5150s? I saw a multipack ld them on Amazon but don’t know how to verify they’re the right ones....Last edited by Tnmg; 07-01-2022, 06:48 PM.

Sony XBR-65X850E power supply board diode replacement
I have a Sony XBR-65X850E that when plugged in buzzes for a few seconds about 5-7 times but the screen never comes on. It looks like one of the four diodes on the main power supply board are bad. I'd like to replace all four at the same time. The diodes that are bad are the D750, D751, D752 and D753. The S750 looks discolored and fails the diode test on the board. It hasn't been removed from the board yet for testing.
Are all four of these the same diode? I saw a video that called the discolored one a Schottky 5150 diode. How can I make sure to get the right diodes for these?...

Re: Panasonic TV-P55ST30 loud pop, display black and 14 blinks
How can I tell if Vfo is shorts to ground or not? That's where my inexperience keeps coming back. If it is shorted to ground, how can I see that on my multimeter? I understand how to check resistance but don't know how to do this. If something is shorted to ground, will the resistance go to zero? It should buzz on continuity since it's a direct path to ground?
And for resistance checks and ground checks, does it matter which probe I land on the two points?Last edited by Tnmg; 12-10-2015, 06:01 AM.

Re: Panasonic TV-P55ST30 loud pop, display black and 14 blinks
Ok, I used my analog meter to check continuity and all points beeped.
I used my digital meter and found the following readings. All readings were on 20M setting.
SD
Vfg to Vscnf off scale (reads as 1 .)
Vfg to Vfsv 2.9
Vfg to Vfo 14.2
SU
Vfg to Vfo 14.8
Vfg to Vscnf off scale like above
Vfg to Vfsv 3
Also, is there some way to check the SC board since it is removed/isolated to make sure?

Re: Panasonic TV-P55ST30 loud pop, display black and 14 blinks
Ok, so I disconnected the SC board. I also disconnected the ribbon between the SD and SU boards.
I then took resistance readings on the two boards:
SD Board
Vfg on SD42 to pin 2 (Vscn_f) was 17k
Vfg on SD42 to pin 6 (Vfsv) was about 8 ohms (not k-ohms)
Vfg on SD42 to pin 1 (Vfo) was about 10k
SU Board
Vfg on SU41 to Vfo was 10k
Vfg on SU41 to Vscn_f was 17k
Vfg on SU41 to Vfsv was about 0 ohms
I took these things several times but...

Re: Panasonic TV-P55ST30 loud pop, display black and 14 blinks
I did a quick check of the buffers. I put one probe on the chassis and used the continuity to run through the buffers, or what I think are buffers. I didn't get any buzzers.
Do I go through with the digital in the 2M ohms on each of these connections and take readings? There's a lot of pinsI'll probably have to do that tomorrow after work. Thanks again for your help!
I added a photo of what I think are buffers....
