  • Sharp LC-32SH12U intermittent vertical lines, freezing, inversion

    Display fails intermittently: the picture freezes and fades into vertical red lines of varying width, mostly on the left half of screen, or red + blocky white stripes. The picture freezes as it fades out, and sometimes image elements are added inverted and superimposed upside down. Then the screen often goes blank entirely (audio still working)

    Changing channels or inputs has no effect. Cycling power often restores function indefinitely. Jostling didn't appear to affect the fault, which can happen both on cold power-on and during extended operation. I know the T-con board has been...

  • Samsung LN40A630M1F fixed

    I recently inherited a 40" Samsung LCD that would power cycle on a cold start with signal present...green vertical lines, loud static or screeching, then restart. Picture gradually improved on each cycle until stable.

    I'd assumed bad caps on power board, but they looked fine.

    Hello. I'm a hack who's replaced bad caps in a handful of electronic devices over the years. Now have a TV to fix...if beginner's luck applies to SMD soldering.
