Long story short..I had the blue light and same symptoms as the poster,got a new pc board and it worked again just fine.However,fast forward one week with it of and surprise ! The blue light pictureless special but this time instead of being quiet about it my T.V. decided to turn impersonator and started make special effect sounds...

Ok so i have the same T.V. and had a problom that I fixed via another thread with a new board and it worked for a short time with no issues. However I tried to turn it onthe other day and not only did it do the same thing(blue light on no picture) and was makig a noise like a jet engine firing up on the runway. Any ideas before I post a new thread?

wow! i feel I should say something about myself in this thread, however I don't even come close to anything ya'll have done or submitted.I'm just a guy that tinkers with stuff that breaks and my friends attempt to toss that I don't have the heart to let them dispose of.

I'm bummed it didn't work...same dark blue screen with the new cap in.I'm gonna get a replacement board and see if that works. btw my model # isELGFW551

ok,so I replaced the cap with another one only it was 16 v instead of 35 v,and it was a cannibalized cap as well(with stores all closed I was hoping for a win) and I still have the same problem only I have lines dancing on the screen now too. Both vert and horizontal.
My question is,before I run up to fry's and grab the proper one(220/35) is there anything else that could be causing the same issue?
side note:I was having issues with my soldering gun and probably didn't do the best solder job on iteven though it felt and...

Ok, just so you ....YOU GUYS ROCK! My sister turned me onto this site the other day because of this same issue thatI'm having with this tv that I got from a house I had to clean out for a friend and I'm just getting ready to try the prescribed fix which you wonderful people have supplied,IN AWESOME detail I might ad!
