Re: Super I/O chip, on/off pins
Hello, the i/o chip offers different levels of power on, lets say power states, you can see this from the schematic, the s3, s4, s5 which will give power to certain ic`s. the s5 is the full power on, the other ones can be charging, standby and some other functions. By injecting 3.3v to the right pin of the i/o ic you activate the different levels, check the schematics für the right pins. But if the bios is damaged, even if you inject the voltage the screen will not come. Lets say you activate the s5 level and all voltages to all ic`s are there, if...

Re: hang problem
Remove hard drive and optical drive and see if it goes further? Reflash bios, disconnect keyboard or everyting that is not needed, run the naked board with the display? Reseat cpu, reflow southbridge.

Re: emachine hangs-on E-logo
Buy the willem eprom programmer, its cheap and works with almost all chips. Iam using it every day it has saved me a lot of troubles.

Re: I know i said i'll never again get a...
The on and off cycle comes from the nvidia northbridge, when connections are broken so that the cpu cant be detected, its like there is no cpu installed or the type is unknown. Sometimes when you work on the video chip you may crack the contacts of the northbridge. I must say i have seen the northbridge more faulty than the video chip.
I fixed many hp by reflowing most of them last very long, like one year. But if you want a 100% fix and you plan to use the laptop for years, better replace the chip with the correct new one and solder...

Re: Sony Vaio VPCEB24FX No power on
Sound like southbridge to me? Had the problem before, southbridge was shorted, check for shorts on the motherboard after you checked the bios.

Re: Toshiba L35-S2171 LCD Backlight problem
Check voltages in inverter like +19v Power +3.3V Enable and Dim 1.5V-3V. If voltages present inverter is faulty or the backlight is worn out, try another backlight tube?
If 19v is there but no enable or no dim backlight will not come. Lets say you have enable but dim signal is missing, you can just solder a jump wire or resistor from the 3.3v to the dim. If enable missing, maybe broken trace on motherboard, you can also get the voltage from a different point of the motherboard, anywhere where the 3.3v comes on after you press the...

Re: DV4-1435DX dead
Hello, if all voltages seem ok, flash bios, if still not working, replace kbc, still not working replace clock generator. check if laptop drains more current then 0.01A? At least if voltages are ok, bios ok, kbc ok charging light should come, battery should charge. Check if acin acdetect is working, i think there wa resistor somewhere which likes to go up in value so the adaptor is no more detected, check the schematic.

Re: Toshiba L510 no power at all
Hello, use a regulated power supply with display and check if the laptop draws any current, while on charger with no battery and powered off. If any higher current than 0.01A flowing there might be a short somewhere, you should feel some heat around the faulty part. If not check if 19v reaches all the power ic and mosfets, then check 3.3v and 5v. If everything ok, check pins ouf the bios and the kbc acording to schematics, maybe replace bios ic. No power on if voltages are ok mostly bios ic - kbc or southbridge. you can also try and reflow the southbridge,...

Re: HP G62 No Power- Dead
Hi, its bios failure, i had it many times, the thing is that there are different bios files from the hp website, if you flash the wrong one it will still be dead (also no light at the power socket). Some of the files are not meant to be flashed directly with the programmer they are oversized, the rom file has to be exactly the same size of the bios memory.

Re: Sony with a weak powerup, green power light slowly blinks
Hi, iam doing reflow all the times as i don't have the money for the bga machine. I reflowed all types of motherboards for example the dv 6000 and 9000, if you do it right it can last up to one year again, and you know this chips are with red glue. You have to get a very sharp knive that can go under the chip and remove the glue completely, there is also some kind of acid with you can pour on it, after that the glue becomes very soft and can be removed, you can buy it on ebay.
