Yea, after further inspection the tv cannot be repaired. I have a full functional right side and a bad left side with vertical lines and a 1/4 white screen.
I appreciate the time you all have spent answering my questions!! I have learned some stuff I would have never anywhere else have learned. Thank you freak, bud and tom!!!...

Yea, I didn't remove anything from the bottom. I hope so too that I can work with that screw. But for now I will rest some as this tv has me going insane hehe..

There is none. Basically there's only 4 boards total in the bottom (which look exactly like what Freak removed) the only difference of course is that the ribbons are a lot bigger.
I will see if I can remove that screw tomorrow after work and I will have some pictures of the side for you guys.

I removed that metal bar casing on the side and there was nothing but the lcd and I know i saw some brown connectors, but they seemed to not be connected to a board.. unless I remove something else which I would have no idea of what or how.. and to make maters worst, one of the little screws got messed up. So I have to wait until tomorrow to get a some point end pliers and try to remove it. I can take some pictures of that tomorrow if I'm able to successfully remove that screw.

Yes you are right. there is not any side boards on this tv. Only the bottom board and that is it. Here's a picture of how the set looks from the back.
I got really confused and thought the fix would be the same.

Ahh darn it. I'll go back and re-read the whole thread again. Hopefully along the way I can see if anyone had this issue and what they did to fix the tv blowing up their T-Con boards.

How hard is it to fix them? Is there a guide on these forums on how to fix them? I'm sure it'll beat buying another new one if it is indeed taken out after I plug that right ribbon.Leave a comment:

I have very good news! at least I hope they are. The new T-con got overnight to me and I installed it on my tv and didn't plug the right ribbon cable. I have perfect picture on the left side and the right has a white screen with no vertical or horizontal lines.
Now comes the real question. Should I plug that right ribbon and see if it works? or what precautions can I take before I do it? I don't want to burn another t-Con board. to be honest I'm somewhat scared.

Ok. I've been talking to a FTVparts person to see if they can send me a new t-con board. As soon as I get the new T-Con I will install it, not plug the right side ribbon.. and if the half picture looks good..I will start operating on my tv the same way you did on yours Freak. Now the waiting time begins until I get a new T-con.

As far as removing the right side ribbon drivers you mean peeling off the brown connectors the same way you did for your tv? If that's correct, excuse my lack of knowledge. But how will the right side of the tv get picture?Leave a comment:

Nope, back to square one. I just get a black screen again when turning the tv on even without that fat ribbon cable plugged in

Well... After removing the white ribbon in the right and putting it back (with the tv unplugged) I went back to the original problem. No picture whatsoever. So, I guess this tcon is fried as well...it all happened after I lifted the speaker to put it back in place. Would you think that the right strip board is bad and it's causing this? Or should I give up and stop wasting time and money?

Yes, the pics are with all
3 boards from the cracked tv. I actually bought a new T-Con board from FTVparts and it didn't change anything, which got me thinking the main or power board were bad and fries the new t-con. That's when I decided to buy that tv for $20.
I will clean the cable on the side of the tv that's affected and see if that changes anything. Would you suggest cleaning only the cable going from the tcon to the lcd or all on that side?
If it was a vertical tab failure. What does that mean?

Hi, I have the same issue. I've read a lot of different posts in other websites about people having success by replacing the t-con and some didn't.
I have sound but no picture and I know the backlight works since I get the to turn on and I see a black/dark blue screen. This brings me to my question, Should I replace the T-con only, or both the T-con and the Main board? Vizio 60" smart tv.
Hello I have a 60" smart TV that lost the picture, the sound was still working but now since I unplugged everything. I don't get sound.. but I will say that the sound is intact. The serial number is E601i-A3. This tv was bought in 2012 from Walmart and I called vizio and I was told it was a backlight issue.. Clearly the person I talked to had no idea as I kept telling him the tv turn on but I get a black/dark blue screen and that's an indication of the backlights working.
