Re: Dell inspiron 14z usb port fuse
Sorry for the late update guys. I tried tracing the schematics to no avail. The data line for the usb hub has been quite tough to trace for me. In the interim, I managed to do a system format using Windows. Still usb devices are not getting detected even though they do get power from the ports.
Thanks for any headups

Re: Dell inspiron 14z usb port fuse
I'll update as soon as I do that. I've not been able to carry out any further tests since the last time

Re: Dell inspiron 14z usb port fuse
Thanks @ R_J. Yeah I can actually get 5 volts. So you are suggesting it could be a problem with the usb controller chip. How do I go about testing that?
Thanks

Dell inspiron 14z usb port fuse
Does anybody know how the USB polyfuse/resettable fuse is implemented in a dell inspiron 14z 5423? Mine suffered a USB port short sometimes ago(power surge has occured on this port blah blah). After that, I could no longer connect my phone storage or flash drive to the USB port, but the port was still supplying as I could charge my phone, and as well confirmed with a DMM. I unplugged the laptop and removed the battery as well as the CMOS battery and left the board lying for a day before putting it back together. It worked. Couple of hours later, same thing happened again, but this around the original...

Re: HP Pavillion G6 No power/full short-URGENT
Sorry guys, I thought I would be able to post updates yesterday. Unfortunately there has been total blackout since then till now, which means I can't really do much. However I have tested the mosfets you talked about @sancheti81, and yes they are short. I believe things will get clearer after removing PQ50 as merisotari pointed out. I wish I had a nice power supply that holds even on short circuits. Mine shuts down when it's connected to a short circuit.

HP Pavillion G6 No power/full short-URGENT
Good day everyone. Please I need urgent assistance concerning an HP Pavillion G6 laptop that I'm working on. The original fault was that it only powers on without the battery plugged in. If the battery is not removed, the laptop will neither power up on battery or adapter. I decided to change the IC marked PU8 on the Schematics which I downloaded. Unfortunately for me, for some not completely strange reason, my ho air gun (a Bakku 8032A with adjustable control for Temp and Air speed) didn't come up as hot as usual (later found out it was due to the low voltage from t mains). Hence I found myself...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Seems like I'm going to enjoy being around quite some. My name is Tope- tor-peh. But don't worry if you can't manage that, actually you are not the first! So I'm in my final year of a MBBS course. I know, I know..a Steth on one hand and a screwdriver (or a soldering iron?) in the other sounds nuts. I'm addicted to Technology. I started programming roughly 8 years ago.Unfortunately, writing code and fixing software faults for friends couldn't satiate my cravings for anything and everything techy. So you guess it, I plunged...
