Nakamichi OMS-2A
I had one like this back in the day (1987), on a whim bought a functioning one I found on Ebay. Thinking about recapping it and seeing if it will go another 30, which is more time than I have....

Welcome!

Re: Pics
The listed malfunction was "dim picture". Some of these units were used in minor process control and would stay on for years. They are probably going to the scrap yard soon.

Re: Sun capacitors
Actually, the player had some issues and I recapped the entire thing with Nichicons. Working well now. Might have been the needle cartridge.

Sun capacitors
I just reworked an Akai AP-A50 phonograph that I " inherited". The circuit board gave 1995 as the year of manufacture. All the capacitors had a cursive "Sun" logo that I misread as Lelon because I am blind, apparently. Every one of them tested at specified capacitance. My ESR meter got fried (cause I am a little confused sometimes) , so can't say if that was still ok. Are they Sun Electric and good Japanese caps or something else? Will post pictures if needed.Last edited by WeaselXP; 06-04-2018, 10:46 PM.

Re: Silkscreen cap values vs installed
OK, yes they do (or did) make an upgrade model. Thanks. I replaced all the power supply caps and put Rubycon/Panasonic items. Much less noise on the AM band, now.

Silkscreen cap values vs installed
I have a Tesslor R601 radio I took apart to see what it was made of and noticed that the main caps were 220uf 400v but the pcb had 100uf 400v printed on it. Also there were 2x 22uf 250v caps but the printing said 10uf 50v on one and 10uf 250v (IIRC) on the other. Given that some boards get revised and updated to new specs, is this fairly common? Just seems odd to me , being a noob. Thanks id advance.

3300uf vs 3900uf
I am working on my parents 32 inch samsung tv (LN32A450C1D) from 2008.It had a bad 2200uf cap on the PS that I replaced. I was in the process of replacing all the larger value capacitors but there is a 3300uf 10v and I only have 3300uf 16v and it's too tall to fit. I do have 3900uf 10v Rubicon ZLS caps with a measured capacitance of @3700uf. Could I get away with this?

Re: Lithonia LED area light
It was the photo electric switch. Power supply was fine. Disappointingly low quality switch.

Lithonia LED area light
These lights are just wonderful and we have enjoyed them but last week, my renter said his would only come on if he tapped it with a stick. I replaced it and opened it, half expecting Lelon or CapXon. Very much surprised to see all Rubycon low ESR types. Now to trouble shoot it.......

Re: Ryobi IntelliPort Battery charger
How you can even tell what rectifier is there is beyond me, guess it will have to fail. If you can't fab a custom heatsink from a beer can, I am out of luck.

IC's on the bottom of the PCB correct.

Ryobi IntelliPort Battery charger
Broke this one open to find Asia X caps, which are apparently Fuhjyyu budget models. Replaced all (except the one Samxon). This was not done as a needed repair in as much as attempt at trolling certain Czech members of the board.
Have a nice weekend....
