1000 uF, 16V RC: 1820 IMP: 0.023, DxL: 10x20mm.
So NICHICON - UHD1C102MPD and RUBYCON - 16ZL1000MEFC10X20 are perfect matches, I can buy the latter for about 13USD for 5 pieces from a local supplier including shipping.

Ok NVM, I searched Rubycon's site and found an exact match, that was helpful, thank you.

Oh wow I actually found those old caps there:
I think I understood what you said, it looks like the site I'm buying it on doesn't list ripple current or impedance, is there an easy way to look for matching values other than check one by one?

Is there anything else to look for in replacement caps other than matching F and V ratings and their size?
In this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ytw57212X2o Dave says to get low ESR ones but I see many caps don't even mention that (and they're Rubycon).https://Is there anything else to lo...y're Rubycon). Is there anything else to look forLast edited by Yamashiro; 12-04-2015, 06:51 AM.

About replacing caps on a monitor where some caps look ok
Just opened up a monitor, and I see 2 out of a 4 array caps are bad, should I replace all 4 or just the 2 bloated ones?
What about other caps on the board that look ok?
PS the monitor was turning on for a second and then off....

Re: Chinese soldering iron?
The shipping on those stations makes them very expensive
@stj, I understand that using a laptop PSU can work in theory but do you know of anyone that tried it before? Is there an online guide maybe?

Re: Chinese soldering iron?
@dj_ricoh I'm just a part time hobbyist, no clients or anything, I just need to solder a few wires and components and a little desoldering and that's it so there's no point in investing in it.
@stj, I'm a little afraid of wiring things with higher voltages than 5V, I'm not an electrician and those voltages can really hurt or cause fire.
I already take good precautions against fire, but I don't think I know enough to be certain I won't be electrocuted.
I assume it needs at least 3A?
One of those could work?

Re: Chinese soldering iron?
Unfortunately, I don't have this kind of transformer.
Combining the tip and heating element is cool.
Why do you think the Chinese one I linked is bad?

Life of capacitors
This is probably a noob question but I saw that some capacitors has rated life, here for example it says only 2000 hours, that's nothing!

Some caps don't even have that rating, so how can I know if cap will last for years or more like 15k-20k hours?https://This is probably a noob ques...k1ZWgis=

Re: Cap sellers that ship internationally
Thanks, the prices there are reasonable, shipping is a little expensive though.
On Mouser electronics the shipping is way too expensive....

Re: Chinese soldering iron?
I don't think there's a soldering iron that use them that isn't a part of a station and that cost around $30, all I can find are Hakko soldering stations and they aren't cheap.
Those tips are kind of expensive too, one costs at least $5.

Chinese soldering iron?
I bought a cheap Chinese soldering iron for a few bucks it still works but the tip got ruined and I find it difficult to find different tips that will fit it.
It was also weak and I had to wait too long for it to heat up.
Now I want to buy a better quality one that has many tips that are cheap and easy to find, I saw this...Last edited by Yamashiro; 09-28-2015, 09:38 AM.

Cap sellers that ship internationally
I want to buy new caps to replace the ones in my monitor, but I found out there are some fakes out there and the local shops are over priced.
Anyone can recommend ebay or aliexpress sellers that sell real caps from good manufacturers?
I read those two threads BTW.
