RS Medical Nerve Stimulator
Hi,
Below is a link to 2 images of the circuit board from an RS Medical 4i electronic stimulus device. It is used to provide electronic stimulus via cables and conductive pads to sufferers of nerve pain.
www.van99.com/rs_medical/
The device was introduced about 10 years ago and service is now discontinued. A new device costs $2000 plus so I am trying to repair this unit, if possible.
It is powered by 5 x 1.5 volt rechargable cells which connect via the white connector in the right lower quadrant. The device worked for over...

Re: Display Problem
My apologies for posting in the wrong forum. I have traced the fault to a faulty HDMI cable.

Re: Display Problem
I am using an HDMI cable, when I switch to a VGA cable there is no pink/green raster flicker.
Also using the HDMI cable if I enter the monitor's menu settings there is no pink/green raster flicker

Honda Civic ECU
Hi,
Anybody know if auto ECUs are subject to cap failure
Have Honda Civic EX 2006 135k miles.
For the last 18 months its had a starting problem, sometimes it will start first time, other times it requires 4 or 5 attempts. It always starts, just has to be "coaxed"
Problem is the same hot or cold.
Shows no trouble codes using my ODB scanner.
Took it to large local Honda dealer, still no trouble codes.
They had it for a day and a half. Checked the battery, replaced earth straps and tested a whole bunch of sensors.
Even...

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-32XBR4 display
Thanks for the feedback Bill. Am working my way through the pdf.
If it's not the t-con board, is it most then likely the panel making it uneconomic to repair. Are there other possible failure areas to pursue.
Seller has a starting bid of $50.00 on Ebay with no offers. It is local pickup only which is about 20 minutes from my location. I think I will roll the dice.

Sony Bravia KDL-32XBR4 display
Hi,
I've fixed a few monitors with bad caps and now there's a Sony Bravia KDL-32XBR4 TV for sale near where I live. The seller has posted this picture of the display:

The owner says he thinks the panel needs to be replaced.
What's your diagnosis.

Motorola Surfboard SB5101U Modem
Hi,
This morning I was unable to connect to the internet through my Motorola Surfboard SB5101U Modem. The function lights did not display their usual pattern. Rebooted the modem, no improvement. Phoned Comcast and a tech sent a signal to the modem to test it, told me it was unresponsive and needed to be replaced.
I've fixed a few monitors with bad caps before so I thought I would take a look inside. Most of the components were tiny, machine assembled I guess, way too small to replace. But there at the side of the board was a 470 microF 10V capacitor. No apparent bulging. I had a...

Compaq V6000 DC power plug
I have a Compaq V6000 with faulty DC power supply plug. The cable to the plug is coax and after time the out braid breaks up and supply becomes intermitant.
Can anyone tell me where I can buy a quality plug, one with a 90 degree bend would be best, 4.75mm OD, 1.65 inner pin dia.
It is definately the plug at fault as I have another power supply which works just fine.

Re: Samsung 240T on screen ripple effect
Thanks Wizard and aliasdck, I intend to recap everything, parts arrived today.
Monitor has developed another problem, a thin horizontal runs across the screen about 1" from top, image attached. Sometimes it's there sometimes it's not. Can this be fixed.

Samsung 240T on screen ripple effect
Samsung 240T just arrived. Works fine except that the screen image shows the following:
Bands of 45 degree cross-hatching, maybe 1.5" - 2" tall, slowly make their way from the bottom of the screen to the top. There are two bands maybe 3" - 4" apart visible at all times. An image is attached, one band can be seen immediately below the NavStudio, RealPlayer, NTest icons.

Re: Samsung 240t no backlight
Adapter is brand new and I have checked the input, it reads +14V at entry to the DC to DC inverter board.
There is no way to reverse the polarity of the adapter it is a 4 pin DIN plug that will only fit one way.
I will wait for my order from Digikey to arrive and complete the replacement of all electrolytic caps. Otherwise I can't see any burnt components or dry joints....

Re: Samsung 240t no backlight
Agreed, but I checked my values again and they are the same. My only way to go at the moment is to replace the three electrolytics on the power section of the logic board, 3 @ 100 micoF 16V 105 C, when they arrive....

Re: Samsung 240t no backlight
I have tried using an input from a computer into the VGA input but it makes no difference.
I replaced these two caps, happened to have new caps to suit, but it makes no difference. This board, DC to DC, outputs 5V as per specs. Will however replace the other two caps when I get them from Digikey.

Re: Samsung 240t no backlight
Here's a closeup of the power supply section of the logic board. Power adapter connects at blue arrow, 14V in. This board then outputs power to the inverter board through 15 wire connector, red arrow.

Samsung 240t no backlight
Samsung 240t 2003 vintage
Uses a power adapter which provides 14V
When I connect the power supply adapter and press the on button the monitor beeps and the power indicator lamp flashes every second or so. Backlight does not come on at all not even for an instant. Pressing any of the control buttons produces a beep but no other response. I have wiring diagrams which I downloaded.
Opened it up, images attached.
Small power board 3" x 1.5" (DC to DC) has 3 Samsung electrolytics, no bulging or leakage. Has 14V input and three ouputs:
