I am working on a Klipsh Powerd spkr in which I found:
an N-ch Mosfet with a hole blown through it
and a high temp (I think) resistor, also blown apart
the magic smoke also has rendered a large cap (electrolytic)
virtually unreadable, tho it appears by the circuit
to be at least 300V in value@680** the rest of value
is obscured so,..2 inquiries
1. as I must replace the blown Mosfet,..should I replace
both?
2. the large cap is a Jamicon code on cap is: 054K0(M)
can the cap...

we try again,... : )...
OK...got the point...only abbriviate as my typing is lousy...
now, in reference to my previous post,...can anyone help to id the chip
listed as U801 on the solder side of the pwr/inverter board for an Acer AL1914?
and, it's clear that the fault description was less than adequate,...so
once the Monitor is plugged in,..the green power lamp flashes,..but I have noticed when I shine a bright light on the screen,...there is a dim flash
of the screen,..which seems to oscillate in this fashion:...

time we all met,...been studying almost all posts, and ..some items match
presumptive faults and have also studied the pics,...the REV on my board
is: 1J,..board nu:433AAP30021..for the PWR/INV..
2 items, if you please;
1. identify U801 (wiped nu out)..and,
2. my Monitor flashes grn LED,..as soon as plugged in..
have put bright lite near screen,..noticed that the screen flashed dimly,..
in btwn flashes,...almost as in oscillation,...caps appear normal....
and no overly suspicious overheating...am...
