  • Re: LG 60PV450 Power Issue

Just messing around with the TV now. See my attached picture. Is this the P704 point you're referring to? Do I just put my voltmeter on that white dot or what?

    Sorry for all the questions....

You the man...thanks for the quick reply.

And when I'm testing the power button...I assume I'll just look for a wire running to the button, place the voltmeter on that wire, and press the softkey power button while the voltmeter is attached and if the voltage changes when pressed the buttons work?

Darn it. I'll go home later and try to test the power buttons then. Just curious, if it really is a faulty main board, couldn't you just replace that board in hopes of making the set work again? The main board is the one on the lower right with all the HDMI/component inputs, correct?

As far as the blue line, what is the main cause for that? Again just curious. Is it from something like overuse or physical damage or something?

Appreciate your time and the help you've given me!

Sorry about that...I can't reiterate enough that I really have no experience with electronics. I'm a structural engineer by trade and this is my first time dealing with electronics repair.

I put the CTRL board back to how it was in the previous step with the paper clip and retried this morning. The TV now shows test patterns (and I now know what a test pattern looks like). It cycled through all the colors, etc. The blue streak that I sent you a picture of still appears on the screen while the test patterns show.

    I'll wait...

Ok. So I disconnected the power power supply, jumped the wires like you said, reconnected the power supply, then plugged in the TV. I got blue streaks to come on the screen (I've attached a picture of this along with the ports that I jumped with speaker wire). Is this what you refer to as a test pattern because I'm not even quite sure what a test pattern is?

Does it sound like I did the steps right because again I'm very new to all of this?

More information: when I plugged in the TV with the wires jumped, both the YSUS and...

Ok. So I disconnect the power, jump the wires, reconnect power, and try to power on?

This might be a dumb question, but does it matter which STBY point you connect to RL-ON? It looks like the two points you connect in that picture are on the same side, correct? Also, what kind of wire are you using? Will a paper clip work with this step as well?

I'm still at work, but I'll report back to you later.

Thanks for hanging in there with me and sorry for being so new at this!

So I did what you said...see attached picture. Pressed power button and still can't get anything to happen. Blank screen with solid, red standby light.

Should anything be happening when I hit the power button?

    Any more ideas?

Thanks again for any continued help....

    Thank you for your response!

I've attached photos of each board. Please let me know if you need more pictures and I can get them.

I disconnected that wire you told me to, plugged in the TV, and still nothing. Pressed power button on both remote and on the actual TV. Black screen with solid red standby light.

I do own a digital multimeter, so I can follow any directions you may have for me. I just don't have a clue where to even start with this project.

    Thanks again.

  • LG 60PV450 Power Issue

Hey guys. First off I want to say I've tried looking around the forum in hopes of finding a fix for my TV. I haven't found anything that caught my eye, but that may be because I just didn't understand what I was reading. My electronics experience is next to none and I'm having a hard time diagnosing what is wrong with my LG 60PV450 plasma. So, if there is a thread you think I should look at, please direct me there.

That being said...the TV was given to me for free from my brother in law who didn't feel like dealing with it. He said that it was working fine, then one day it just...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hey all. Name is James and I'm from North Carolina. Been lurking for about a month trying to learn a thing or two since my electronic experience is close to none. I'm going to try and post later in hopes of getting help on a plasma TV repair. Thanks in advance.
