• Re: Toshiba Plasma TV 42HP95 (or 50HP95)

Bill.... its been so long since I was in one, all I suggest is you get a younger keen eyed adult and a good led light to look for you on your board as I show in my Post # 2 above...and do both sides also looking for swelled or leaking caps.

• cold desktop black boot no video no nothing ..BAD CAP or ?

I'm pretty sure some component is not doing its job until it gets electronically warmed up enough, so Looking for ideas or fixes ..

THE PROBLEM IS A CHRONIC COLD BOOT TO BLACK SCREEN, NO VIDEO, NO POST, NO WINDOWS, ONLY HEAR FANS RUNNING...AND IT WILL MAYBE TAKE 2 OR 3 REBOOTS TO START THEN WORKS WITHOUT ISSUE...AND IF YOU SHUTDOWN AND RESTART WITH IN 5-10 MINS OK...IF IT GETS COLD NO BOOT...

I HAVE TRIED ALL BIOS WINDOWS AND SOFTWARE SETTINGS, SWAPPED MEMORY AND 1 YEAR OF NET SEARCH AND COMPUTER NERD REVIEWS ALL WITH NO FIX...

SYSTEM IS a Windows 10...

stefnopolis...yours is a crap shoot at best...and likely will not fix your set. The forum and this thread are pretty clear on this...repairs are done with the suggested help and your thorough checking of readings and components in a stepwise process. I know its frustrating at times, but substituting parts for knowledge is not the way to go.
Here are the strongest fix suggestions thread has for you. If you are having trouble doing these, enlist the help of a local tech .
No 1... thoroughly check the p/s, and all the voltages...

• single C611 cap on repair on Toshiba Plasma TV 42HP95

Trust me this is only a much less common scenario and temporary fix, as there are a whole lot more components needing attention on the board when the common failure occurs.

DGtech and Dossman...
My set has been running well for sometime now, so I hope this will help get you two get it done as well. If you have a Vizio VW42LFHD model this thread has all the gyrations done for a fix. You may have some missing 'as built' components on mainboard as mine did, but it should be pretty close to that I show in the Post #1 pics.

• Re: Toshiba Plasma TV 42HP95 (or 50HP95)...got 'er done !

It was a long battle but I finally won the 'seine' war ... I don't think I can explain it other than it took many long hours of careful probing and reading of tiny parts..and in the end was probably luck that I happened to change the right SMD's in my last go around. All I can say again is if you try this fix, is look to the SMD ceramic caps....or send it in.
Here's a pic of my view now......

• Re: Vizio VW42lHDTV10A no pix, no sound, won't turn off

Make sure you are checking the leg voltage pairs correctly, see my 'treatise' thread on the right way and wrong way to do it...post #95 gives summary:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12766&page=5
The parts nos do indicate the key factor on these LDO's so the k1117s15 part has a typical 1.5V dropout...your 497-1244-2-ND is only rated at 1.1V ..also suggest output be 1Amp or better. My U9 had a 1.5 dropout, and btw it is one of the few on set fixed, most are adjustables.
My set...

• Re: Vizio VW42LFHDTV10...Brother Mikes TV...power checks

No need to disconnect...but check your p/s output and the inverter and main board inputs when led is amber, and then again when it kicks up to white to see if all is well.

• Re: Toshiba Plasma TV 42HP95 (or 50HP95)..seine repair

Make sure that only the PJ63 5 pin riser is the one disconnected..(see the very top center, white wires, on right board of my pic at post # 1 ) ....
I have no repair manual available....but I can tell you this...it will be very difficult, even for the best tech to accomplish a repair without having a lot of sophisticated scanners and a good board to match up...I am attempting such now but don't hold your breath. As a back-up I do know where it can be done locally for about $100 plus tax and return shipping. I would not...

• Re: Vizio VW42LFHDTV10...Brother Mikes TV...Final Report

I replaced 8 more of the main-board caps that had moderately high ESR's on principle that the Taicon's, series VT & VZ are not the best..that makes 18 total, mostly 200uf x 25v replaced on this board
Now a very happy Brother Mike reports that he thinks TV looks and sounds 'better than new'.
If you need help with a Vizio that's not a 42 inch LCD, please search the forum or start a new thread.
Again Thanks to All !

• Toshiba TV 42HP95.....> cap ID's on seine board

Got it !
I found the right tech who figured they may be Panasonic and the codes in their catalog are here for aluminum eletrolytic SMD's:

10 > 10uf capacitance
CHB. > C is pan code for 16V, and HB is their series
507 > a lot number

100 > 100uf
CFK. > C is for 16V, and FK is the series
5v7 . again a lot number

I have 12 SMD caps to replace so stay tuned for my seine board fix report...

• Toshiba TV 42HP95.....> cap ID's on seine board

I'm stumped on some capacitor ID's as are the techs at Digikey and Mouser...do you know how to read these cap ID's, marked thusly...

10
CHB.
507

another example is :
100
CHK.
5v7

You can see them both in lower left of 1st pic in my new post # 2.

• Re: Toshiba Plasma TV 42HP95 ...seine board pics to check

I figured those large board jumper/connectors out, basically you need a strong glass to see and study the tiny and fragile plastic locks. I had to remove the upper black one from both sides first, then the left side on the grill-like spring connector leaving it on the seine board. Removing the board from the chassis after that was no treat either...no wonder they charge so much on these sets...a lot of disconnecting to remove one board. Speaking of boards if you were wondering there are no less than 20 on these plasma sets...whoa,...

• Toshiba Plasma TV 42HP95 (or 50HP95)

I'm onto my next TV repair and I got a real gem in a Toshiba Plasma TV 42HP95...I'll explain as I go on how to get one hell of a 'steal' yourself !
I'm working on this very typical Toshiba Plasma TV failure which occurs on the units main, or the so-called seine board . The OEM replacement board # 75001605, or repairs are so expensive or elusive these sets have become another Toshiba disgrace and warranty dodge or hussle. The trouble is a component or two fail on this board and the boot sequence defaults to a blinking red led light only failure.
I have got the TV working easily enough...

• Re: toshiba 37HL95 "no start"

We're only talking about disconnecting one cable that's plugged in, not to remove anything...worth a shot as the ruse has worked for other Toshiba models.

• Re: toshiba 37HL95 "no start"..unplug the seine fix

I'm surprised no-one suggested the jelly bean fix...a failed seine module keeps TV from boot-up, but the module is unnecessary for all but rabbit ear antenna's, so unplug the module and try the TV...it may work just fine ! If you really miss the other special features wired into the seine board like PIP , then would you need do a board repair/replace.
Unplug the lead at the left side in pic.......

Here's the executive summary of the problem, analysis, and successful repair of the Vizio VW42LF HDTV10:
Set had no lights, no sound, no video, doesn't respond to on/off switch, only see the amber logo and clicking heard from Power supply when plugged in.
Set has 5 boards...T-Con at top, power supply, mainboard at bottom, and an inverter board at each side...see post #1 for pics.

• Re: Vizio VW42LFHDTV10...Brother Mikes TV...2 more

Ok couple more things....
1). Should I be pulling and replacing these Taicon P SERIES 220UFX25v lytics, all of which I've pulled so far (8 of 9) read 0.35 ESR @ 215uf ..?

2). I did one more check on the regulators with two 95 ohm resistors in the test circuit and got 4.4V out...so it was 7.5v with no resistors, 6.5 with 480 ohms, and now this, so I've bracketed the 125 ohms they wanted but still we got nowhere close to the 2.5V spec...so is this 'purgatory' ...and lets' see what the installed parts , do or...
