Re: 2010 Panasonic TC-P42GT25 Plasma Troublshooting
Any idea on how to test the components on the bad power supply board to see what needs replacing so I have it as a spare? This would have to be done on the bench as I have no intention on connecting it back in the TV.

Re: 2010 Panasonic TC-P42GT25 Plasma Troublshooting
The P board arrived today!! Put it in and nothing. LED on, no blinks, black screen. Took me a while to figure out that I didn't connect the HDMI cables from the satellite box and DVD. Still couldn't get anything other than a message I couldn't understand. THEN IT DAWNED ON ME I NEEDED TO GO THROUGH THE INITIAL SETUP! After about 5 minutes of setup I get great picture and sound. SUCCESS!!!! Now if I can only remember where all the screws go to attach the cover and such.

Re: 2010 Panasonic TC-P42GT25 Plasma Troublshooting
Does the fact that SC2 was not continuous across the legs indicate that the SC board is still good?
I really don't know what happens if I still get 10 blinks. I did just re-download the 2010 training manual and I guess I will start at the beginning and check it all again. The guide is a bit confusing as to knowing which board(s) cause the problem though. I'm not sure Panasonic really knows or cares. Like everyone keeps saying, it was designed to fail so you would just throw it out and buy another one. Unfortunately...

Re: 2010 Panasonic TC-P42GT25 Plasma Troublshooting
Yep, this one doesn't have a D board or SU/SD. There is a combined SM buffer board. When I check the resistance across the legs of SC2 it is not continuous (no beep on my Fluke 77 meter).
My replacement A board came from TV Parts Central and they guaranteed it to be not DOA. It has the same suffix indication as my original. There are no components inside the indicated block and a row of open holes below the solder pads.

Re: 2010 Panasonic TC-P42GT25 Plasma Troublshooting
I have ordered a new power supply board. Should I just put it in with all the cables I originally disconnected remaining disconnected first just in case the SC caused the problem and how will I know if the SC won't fry the new power supply?

Re: 2010 Panasonic TC-P42GT25 Plasma Troublshooting
Had no luck getting a response from ShopJimmy. Is there an easy way to check this suffix code thing?
Am I right in my guess that disconnecting what I did narrows the problem to the A or P boards?
Any suggestions on how to test the A & P boards?

2010 Panasonic TC-P42GT25 Plasma Troublshooting
I had fooled with this TV a couple years ago and kind of set the project aside but now I need to get it fixed. I got the 10 blink code and replaced the A board with one I got off eBay as that fixed another TV I had. This time it didn't work. I still have the original A board.
I tried disconnecting SC2, SS11, P35 and the 3 white ribbons connected to the A board and powered it on and still got the 10 blinks. Both fuses on the P board are good by checking their continuity. One thing I did notice is that there is what looks like a little light bulb, marked S101, just to the right of...

Re: Need help for Panasonic TC-P42GT25
Just checked the Q661 and it seems to be OK. When I checked SC2 across both legs of the connector I averaged 0.384 M ohm. From one leg of the connector to ground is 0.2 ohm and from the other leg to ground was about 2.2 M ohm. Does this mean the SC board is probably good? Any thoughts on whether the SS or P board would be causing the problem?

Re: Need help for Panasonic TC-P42GT25
Really don't have much electronics experience. It doesn't take much knowledge to take a strip of incoming parts and test a bunch for values or set an assembly on a fixture to check if it works. Hopefully I'll get time to check the SC board board tonight or tomorrow night.

Re: Need help for Panasonic TC-P42GT25
The meter is a Fluke 77 that is about 25 years old. I have no idea what it can do but I'm sure it will be fine as I got it when I worked for a computer company as a parts tester, but I'll have to download a manual or spec sheet for it to find out exactly. It is auto ranging and does have an audible continuity checker as well.

Re: Need help for Panasonic TC-P42GT25
I do have and can use a DVM and have even assembled a few kits many years ago, but that is pretty much the extent of my electronic knowledge. I'll see if I can figure out where Q661 is located. If it is shorted. what readings should I get? This model doesn't have SD & SU boards, but does have a single SM board which I guess probably replaces the other two. Also, it is a 3D model (which I haven't used).

Need help for Panasonic TC-P42GT25
First, let me start out with that I have virtually no electronics experience so any answers need to be pretty non-technical. I have a Panasonic 42" plasma TV, manufactured in Sept. 2010 that suddenly stopped working. I get no picture and sound and a 10 blink code on the red LED. When I turn the power on, I get a loud click from the power supply board (I assume a relay) but nothing else. The service manual I downloaded said it could be one (or more) of four boards, either the SC, SS, A or P boards. I have already replaced the A board as that was one of the boards needing replaced on my 58"...
