Newbie here and as Green as the grass so go easy on me please

Basically, as the title suggests my parents LG Plasma started behaving strangely whilst watching it and has since shown the typical symptoms that so many people write about.

Without the aerial plugged in and the TV just plugged into the mains it goes through the usual on/off routine. However, unlike the situation of a blank screen or no picture (even with an aerial connected), ours displays a horizontal and pixelated White fuzzy band at the bottom 3rd of the screen, then shuts...
