  • Re: Lg smart tv 47ln5700 HELP WITH BAD LEDS.

Well I'm glad you said that. I have a new Samsung that I use vivid(sports mode) for football and hockey games. I think i'll not be using that anymore.

Thanks for the information. I ended up giving up. I hate giving up on things. I instead, parted the tv out, and made enough money to just buy a new one! I sold each individual board, the stand, and the speakers.

  • Re: LED Diode repair help

This is what I have when I rip the plastic off. 4 posts appear to be visible, which is quite different than the videos posted on youtube. These posts also don't appear to be soldered on, rather passed through the board and connected under the board between the heat sink board. Thoughts on how to get this off and bridge the connections?...

Thanks for the replies folks! The strip is removable. I figured mine might be similar to Burgers way of removing them, however, it looks like the diodes have leads on them that were stuck through holes on the top of the board, and soldered under the board before the heatsink was installed. The heat sink is the aluminum strip I'm referring to in the original post. I used the heat gun method and had the board pretty toasty and still couldn't get the sucker off.

So would I just be dropping a line of solder to bridge the pins? I see 4 pins around the diode. Am I bridging them all together, or do I need to trace a +/- post?...

  • LED Diode repair help

I'm seeking some electrical help to replace a bad LED on the board from my tv. Pictured below is a zoomed in picture of 2 diodes from the LED strip taken from my tv. I've exhausted all online resources to find a simple replacement, so now I'm moving onto the repair stage. I'm a mechanical engineer, and as such, don't know the proper and tricks to working everything electronic. I've had 2 suggestions come to me on this board. Replace the LED diode or simply smash the diode and bridge the +/- connections. So which is easiest and how to I do it? As you can see, the diodes are really, really small....

2 questions, what's the proper way to remove the LED diode? Second, How's the proper way to short it? Just drop a couple drops of solder in the opening? The glass pane for the panel rests on top of these LEDs, so I don't want to cause any issues.

If you're saying that a single strip is 2 groups, then yes, you're correct. There are 4 total strips on the tv, 2 up, 2 down. Each of those strips has a total of 36 LED's across. I'm trying to track down one of these strips.

  • LG 32LE5300-Help with LG LED parts search

    Good morning,

I am having the hardest time finding a part for my LG tv, and wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. About 1.5 years ago, my LG tv went dark. The tv was just 20 days past it's warranty and I've already been in 20 circles with LG and they will not help out. I'm an avid DIYer, mostly mechanical, but tackle the electrical issues when I feel gutsy. I stripped the tv all the way down to even separating the panel. I found that the lower left LED strip had a bad diode. These diodes have to be installed by a robot because there's no way I'm getting a solder...

  • Re: Lg smart tv 47ln5700 HELP WITH BAD LEDS.

Good afternoon everyone. I'm having a similar issue with a different type of led strip, and am seeking help. I will post here, unless someone thinks I need to start a new thread, but it's the same issue. I have taken my boards out and tested them, and found that diode 016 on the lower left strip is bad. I can buy the individual diodes, but am not experienced in how to replace it. I have spent hours searching for a simple board itself, but haven't found any. What's the best way to replace one of these diodes, or does anyone know where...

  • Re: LG Backlight out, Please Help

So after tearing everything down, I found 1 bad led on the lower right board. I've googled the cap out of part numbers and have come up empty handed. I see the eBay part your posted, but I think that a new led board should exist somewhere. Is there an online store where I can get a replacement or can I maybe buy a cheaper led strip that will fit, put. New connector on the wires and go that route?

Would a defective LED bulb temporarily light though? When I turn the tv on, there are LED's all over the whole tv. I can see the picture perfectly from the front, and with the back off, I can see a ton of LED bulbs lit up. They all go out at once. And it's repeatable. Turn tv off-turn back on, all lights back on, then go out again and stay out. If this still points to a bad bulb, what kinda work am I looking at to replace a defective bulb? And how would I determine which bulb is bad if they all come on and all go off at the same time?

  • LG Backlight out, Please Help

    Good morning,

I have an LG 32LE5300-UC that recently stopped working. When I plug the tv in and turn it on, the LG symbol comes up, then the static, then after about 10-15 seconds, the backlights go out. This is an LED TV. I can see and mess around in the menus when I shine a bright flashlight on the screen.

I have replaced the Power board which also came with a new LED drive since it's part of that board and it still has the same issue. As far as I know, there's only 3 things that can go wrong with an LED. The power board(changed), the Tcon board(but I shouldn't...
