Re: Alt smd cap help
I love Digi-Key, gave them a call and they came up with a substitute in seconds.
Got 4 of them on the way.
I have got to get me a "electronics for dummies" book and some video's.

Alt smd cap help
Hi everyone, been a while since I've been on for two reasons.
1) Got fired from my Cape Cod job and moved back to my house in central MA (not a bad thing as I didn't like it there, had a new job 1 hour later and am saving more $$ now) which resulted in me not having a lot of free time.
2) Because of the excellent information and previous help from this site I have been able to tackle any project that has come up.
That being said I am now faced with something I have very little knowledge of which is SMD cap value.
I have a Macbook Pro 2010 with the video crash problem...

Re: Recommendations please
Thank you STJ but they won't work for my situation.
The IT guy refuses to change anything at the main building, which has a great deal of metal in it, as does the shop.
The other problem is I have to sign into the available wifi as it is a public portal connection, simple enough if I have a browser access. IT won't allow anyone but the office managers onto the secure system via wifi. I would simply use the DD WRT powered router if it wasn't for that.

Recommendations please
Quick background: I work at a golf course where the main building and maintenance building are approximately 400 yards apart.
The main building has the server and internet but the maintenance is to far away for them to run a line.
There is wifi but the signal is simply to weak, it is also a portal so you have to open a browser and click for internet access.
I would like to install an antenna (yagi or parabolic) on the building and a network card in my pc to pull in the signal.
On top of this I would like to be able to feed the other two computers in the maintenance...

Re: Samsung LE32R88BD/ BN44-00155A
Had enough of searching for the problem so I picked up a power board on ebay for $28 total.
Works perfect so worth the savings in time alone.
Now I have a board I can pull apart and learn on.

Re: Samsung LE32R88BD/ BN44-00155A
Vinceroger69, I did pull it and test, checked ok. Thank you for the sch, I've been on the thread before but forgot it was here.
Agent24, I'm on the road right now, will post a better shot when I get back. Had checked majority of the board (everything I had replaced before included) statically, ran out of time to check it powered.
Will check the point you listed.
Thank you for the help!

Re: Samsung LE32R88BD/ BN44-00155A
Well my set has crapped out again, as a refresher it is a Samsung LN3253HX with the BN44-00155A board.
Since the cap, fuseable resistor and mosfet replacement it has been golden. I am gone frequently for extended periods so I unplug the set each time.
This time I heard a soft pop, much like when you plug in a power supply for a Macbook, when I plugged it in but everything worked fine for a couple of day. When I turned it on last everything started as normal (set had been plugged in for 48 hours) when all of a sudden the set went dead,...

Re: Hp lc4776n
Ran a few checks, finally took a shot at it being the tcon and picked up one from Shop Jimmy.
Took care of just about everything, just need to fine tune it using the power off press power button 5 sec. procedure.
Not a bad set for a total of $14.

Hp lc4776n
Here I go again.
I now have a HP TV/monitor that has a fuzzy semi focused picture with washed colors and thin horizontal white lines that jump around.
I haven't fully tested it, can't get the components input to work as well as one of the HDMI ports. Cable/antenna in works, HDMI #2 works. Have sound, all functions via remote work.
The picture is worse when in cable mode.
The white lines show up only when there is a picture, without any inputs the screen is fine.
Am I looking at a Tcon board?

Re: Samsung UN40ES6100 no backlight
So I've been testing the set out, for the most part it is a functioning set however, and there is always a however, I have some LED's showing up on the right edge, even after checking the placement of the diffusers and such, and when I connect the A/V composite I only get black and white.
I found a bad solder joint on the cable IN so that is now working fine but I would like to hook up the DVD.
Any suggestions?

Re: Samsung UN40ES6100 no backlight
Will do.
I'll have to go back in and reset the diffuser, got a few led's showing up on the edge but otherwise it is working.
The cable port does't seem to work but the HDMI parts do.

Re: Samsung UN40ES6100 no backlight
After a delivery delay and some time off I finally got around to installing the new led strips and giving them a quick test. I must say they shine brighter than a newly polished 57 Chevy bumper.
I'll assemble the set tonight and give it a full test.
Now I've got a bunch of LED's as spares incase I run into another set or want to make something.

Re: Samsung UN40ES6100 no backlight
Electronica has the strips back in stock so I ordered the pair.

@ flocko
The part numbers that comes up for my set is BN96-21460A and BN96-21461A.
I looked up the numbers you listed, they look similar but the connection wiring is different.
I have two blue and one white on one side and two black and one white on the other.
These LEDs are interesting, side tang surface mounted.

Re: Samsung UN40ES6100 no backlight
Seems as if everyone, including Electronica, is sold out on the LED strips.
Trying to source out the LED's themselves is proving to be frustrating too.

Re: Samsung UN40ES6100 no backlight
I get the same voltage with the LED disconnected too, from what I have read that should be correct?

Re: Samsung UN40ES6100 no backlight
I came up with 260, it was bouncing around a bit, 257 to 263 then settled to the 260.3 range

Re: Samsung UN40ES6100 no backlight
Ah, just looked at the photo of the board and see the cap you are instructing me on, easy enough.
Sorry for the daft question, I was picturing a board mount cap for some reason.
Will post the results later.
Thank you again for your guidance.
