    I thought it might be one that was in a socket simular to bios eprom's, Where can i find a replacement ? Should this cure the problem ?

    I know all about smd and soldering, have many soldering irons on my bench and i work with smd parts all day I build amplifiers and stuff.

    The monitor will do alot of resolutions, the max resolution used to work just fine, then it started doing this, so i changed the resolution to a lower one, then i started again, the max resolution it can handle is 1600x1200 16:10 in its day it was a 1400$ because it has the tilt feature and all the extra inputs such as dvi vga composite svideo and 2 component.

    I know im not hurting it or putting it into a resolution it won't handle / accept. I think its the video bard or something, is it fixable...

    I have a gateway 24" lcd the hd version with all the inputs etc etc, the FPD2585, it works ok untill you go and try to use a higher resolution, I can use the 1680x1050 some times but some times it starts flickering and getting all distorted etc, when i go the the max resolution it just goes all millions of lines and you can't do any thing with it, however i used to be able to do it on this setup.

    At first i thought it was the video card so i bought a new one, installed drivers and still does the same thing, so i bought a different brand and make video card that has dvi and...
