  • LG 47LF66 - Backlight on then off!

I have an LG 47LF66 TV with a problem

    The symptoms are:

When you turn the TV on, sometimes everything works well
If you then turn it off and back on again, the picture does not come back. Instead you get a flash of coloured vertical lines and then nothing (sometimes a picture that looks like interference)

Now, the TV wont come back on at all. The backlight flashes on for a split second and then goes off. Sometimes, unplugging for a while and then reseating the connectors will make the TV work again but then it just goes back to the problem loop...

Let me know if you need bigger images of any board in particular...

I have re-seated everything already. When I first turned it back on I had a red bar down the middle about 2 inches wide. This then just disappeared and has not returned so far....

  • Intermittent "interference" - Samsung Plasma PS50A558S1FXXU

    Hello everyone

I have recently acquired the above plasma TV which is suffering from a niggling fault.

Basically, the TV appears to be working fine. However, there will be random points during its use where the image distorts (sometimes for a second, sometimes for up to about 5 or 6 seconds). It will also go for periods of a few minutes without distortion.

When I say distortion, it looks like some of the colours get replaced with a kind of static. The pictures attached will explain better than I can!

I have opened the back and I cant see...

    Hello everyone!

My name is Louis and I am from Torquay in England.

Part of my self employment involves buying and selling used electronics (mostly laptops and TVs). I have had quite a bit of success with buying TVs with power faults and repairing them by replacing capacitors. I used to love soldering at school so now I am actually making money from it so that was time well spent!

However, my knowledge outside of capacitors is still fairly limited so I am looking to learn from the contributors...
