Re: Panasonic TX-P42S30B flashing green light
I wouldn't say loose. Couple were "easy to undue" I suppose. If I can source some replacement transistors I'll reassemble with split washers or lock washers too.

Re: Panasonic TX-P42S30B flashing green light
Hello All,
The fault has returned on the set and testing reveals it's the same problem as last time.
SN board shorted and the 4 transistors I replaced 2 years ago have shorted.
Can anyone advise where I can get good quality replacement transistors please?

Re: Defective Panasonic TX-P42S31B 5 blinks
Hi All,
Unfortunately the exact same problem has returned on this tv.
The 4 transistors are shorted. They lasted 2 years.
Can anyone advise where I can get replacement transistors? I see there are a few kits available but I only want 4 transistors. Don't think I need the other parts in the kit so don't want to over spend on parts.

Re: Defective Panasonic TX-P42S31B 5 blinks
I've changed four IGBTs on the SN and the TV now seems to be fully functional.
A massive thanks to you guys for helping me get it fixed, I'm amazed at the collective knowledge you have. Without your assistance, that TV would have gone to my local recycling centre.
Instead, it's now sitting in the living room of my in laws, hopefully ready to give many more years of service!!

Re: Panasonic TX-P42S30B flashing green light
OK so I've taken the TV back to the mother in law. (She had already bought herself a replacement as I told her from the beginning that I couldn't guarantee to be able to fix hers.)
Happy with her new set, she decided to give her now repaired Panny to her parents.
I set it up for them this afternoon, and they are delighted as it replaced a very old 4:3 ratio LCD TV.
So a massive thank you to you guys on here, you've been superb. With the advise and support you've given me, you've helped revive an otherwise...

Update:
I've changed the four IGBTs and pow!! the TV now switches on.
It all seems to be working fine.
Does that mean the repair is complete or do you think I need to replace the ICs too? (I do have replacement ICs as they were in the kit).Last edited by mr. shr; 09-17-2017, 01:22 AM.

I'm going down the repair kit route.

Re: Panasonic TX-P42S30B flashing green light
I'm sure I read somewhere that people who only changed the four FETs blew them immediately on power up because there were other faulty parts on the board.
Have you guys come across this?
Or am I OK to just change those four FETs first, and if still not working, then change the ICs?

Re: Panasonic TX-P42S30B flashing green light
OK so looks like I'll be getting my parts from the company in Watford.
How do I know if I need to change those two small ICs?
Is there a test I can do on them?

Yes, I did come across this in my search but unfortunately that's a lot more than I want to spend on repairing this set....

Is there a way to test if the buffer ICs have failed before I start ordering parts?...

Hi tom66.
Moreno83 has run me through a few tests and concluded I'll need some replacement parts for my SN board.
Just trying to source some components but not really sure who/where is a reliable supplier of them....Last edited by mr. shr; 09-08-2017, 04:20 PM.

Struggling to find any suppliers of FGD4536TM
Are there not recommended sellers of these parts within this forum?

Re: Panasonic TX-P42S30B flashing green light
Thanks for this, I'll have a shop around for where to source the parts.
I'm not sure where the 2 small components (BD8693FVM and CPH5524-TL-E) are physically located on the board.
Any chance you could highlight them on a pic for me please?

Re: Panasonic TX-P42S30B flashing green light
OK thanks.
I see there are a few places selling repair kits.
How do I know which kits are good?
Or do I just order the parts individually from RS Components or Maplin or something?

Re: Panasonic TX-P42S30B flashing green light
Do you mean SN2? I don't have an SC20. I have an SN20 but it a ribbon cable not power?
I found 6 devices labelled 30F131.
4 of them give continuity on the outer pins. Two have resistance.
I've marked the picture accordingly. (Red crosses gave continuity, green had resistance)....Last edited by mr. shr; 09-08-2017, 09:20 AM.

Re: Panasonic TX-P42S30B flashing green light
Ok so measured continuity across terminals of SN2 and got a short reading.
Is that definitely SN board fault then?

I've put some pics here.
I thought the 5 blinks referred to when the red led flashes, repeatedly, at a nice steady rate?
I've got a rapildly flashing green led, and it only does it once.Re: Defective Panasonic TX-P42S31B 5 blinks

Hi,
How did you determine it was a fault with the A board?...
