• Re: Samsung 172X - OZ980S?

Could you look again and see if that is perhaps a oz960? oz980 is single chip Smart Battery Selector equipped with Battery Crisis Management and Green Conditioning.

While the oz960 is ccfl control.

Here is the datasheet on the oz960. (it was either the 225bw or 226bw thread that I posted the oz964 and oz9938 datasheets....

Which series are those su'scons?
MG? H5? SK? LX? LZ? SB?

Knowing the series we can look up the ripple ratings, lifespan, and impedance which lets us better know what would work as a replacement.

Datasheets can be found, possibly identify by picture.

Well, that picture you link to shows all the caps you should replace, because they are all known to go bad, even if they don't show signs of it, they all used bad electrolytic.

I can't remember on hand exactly which caps I've used so lets do this, the caps in that picture with the arrows, tell me the top two's voltage, uf, and series, the bottom middle cap and the 3 on the bottom right.

I think I saw in your picture that 2 of the 3 on the bottom right are series GL, and they are capxon? Let me know and I'll...

Almost all the caps on the powerboard usually need to be replaced, I use a medium and large guitar pick to help pry the bezel apart. It's good that it at least comes on after awhile, means the there aren't any dead ccfl's, if one goes out the protection circuit kicks in and wont let the backlight come on for more than a second....

Well replacing those should get it back up and working, however I will suggest replacing the caps on the mainboard I listed at least as well since they are prone to fail at some point, unless of course you don't mind taking it apart later when they do fail. ;p...

• Re: Another Westinghouse LCM-22w3

What your looking for on the caps on that board, is around where they have the temp rating, look for 2 letter marks like GF or PW sometimes it's like PW(P) or SM C105 and so on. (c105 is temp rating, ignore things like 06/05 that's just date code)

So find the series code, look at the voltage and uf the caps rated at and then this step is next. From that you look up the voltage on the cap, the uf and check out the stats on the original with that brands series in a datasheet. Then you can more easily figure out what would work as a...

Last post hope it helps anyone who is working on a vp2130b or vp2030b.

Ok the fun one, biggest pain to recap, but the working product is well worth it.

This is for the Mainboard/Motherboard on the Viewsonic vp2130b, may very well be the same as the vp2030b.

3 cap types to replace on this bugger.
All Teapo, and one is a hard to find replacement.

Just like on the USB board another 6 of these.

Ok for the USB board, again my caps had not failed here, but others had them fail, and Teapos are just bad news. So the deets on the recap.

Ok for the Powersupply, all my caps were good, however A Taicon existed that I did not trust, so I replaced it. Other powersupplies have been known to have bad caps however mine did not, but you can find those searching these forums.

Monitor all fixed and works like a champ kicking on nearly instantly without any oddities.

Here is "a" fix using cap's that you can actually buy in the states.

Alternatively if you can get them, Rubycon ZLJ's work as perfect replacements with much better ratings for the inverter.

I will cover the powersupply, usb, and mainboard recap info on following posts. The job in total involves 21 caps to be replaced that's including the 4 on the inverter.

This fix is specifically for inverter board...
