Re: Help with two defective 5770's (need to identify capacitors value)
Time for an update:
So , now i've changed the mosfet with a brand new original mosfet and changed 2 of the 3 caps with polymer capacitor identical with the originals.Just one capactior i couldn't find to match the original so this one is electrolytic.
And after all this pain in the *** ,the card still artifacts (exactly like before)
take a look:...

Help with two defective 5770's (need to identify capacitors value)
So, i have my hands on 2 defective radeon 5770 wich used to work in crossfire.About a year ago both suddenly died at the same time ,and did not bother to repair them (both had 3 caps blown, and one 5770 was short-circuited on 12V 6pin power conector (suspected a bad mosfet , wich it was)
Now because i'm on vacation (colege summer break) ,and cuz it's so damn hot outside (40C celcius -europe) ,i don't have anything better to do and i'm trying to repair one of them (the one short-circuited). Replaced the bad mosfet IPD075N03L G Infineon with a used one from a 9800gt a NIKO-SEM P0903BDG....

Re: ECS MCP73VT-PM - works fine until Windows boots : BSOD
I had a similar ECS 775 motherboard with the same simptom and after many wasted days i was sick of it and by negligence i broke off a capacitor on cpu side.So i started to replace the one i broke ,and it occurred to me to check every capacitors on cpu power zone. To my surprise nearly every cap was way below the rated specs and by visual inspection you'd never guessed. They were TK electrolytic capacitors (Jen Pan).

Re: Sparkle nvidia GTX 660 black screen
Do a proper reflow on that chip, and see then if it works. You can use a cheap hot air gun if you mange the temperature properly. I had a Sparkle back in the day ,9800gt , and it was a pice of crap ,unstable until it gave it's last breath. I don't trust in those shady manufacturers ,because they use poor quality components to save as much money as they can.

Re: Sapphire HD 7870 possible short
I was in a similiar situation but with a radeon 5770. Short-circuited on 12v 6pin conector. It was a bad mosfet ,but i replaced it with a used one with similar specs and it worked kind of , its artifacts in 2d/3d but the card also had 3 blown caps -changed with crapy Yageo, so now i don't now the cause of artifacts ,caps or mosfet. So that's why i'm here !
