Hey guys, update
I have received a new oem remote
After testing all the button combinations, non of them bring any menu up or reset the tv.
I pressed menu on remote and tv for about a minute with tv off then on
Enter on remote and tv for about a minute with tv off then on
Press menu+ enter+ power for about a minute tv off then on
And nothing happened.
Is there any time frame to wait with the buttons pressed?
Am I screwed?
Will changing the main board fix this?
Any guidance...
well, thanks for your reply but as i stated earlier none of those codes or combinations are working.
I have a few questions
Is this a mainboard problem?
If it is , is there something that can be done physically to that board to reset it without using remote or tv buttons?
Or can the problem be fixed by replacing the mainboard?
I found a remote that works with this tv and did the button pressing thing menu+ enter+ power and nothing happened, the tv just turned off, after turning it on the problem was still there.
Then did the menu on both the remote and tv then the ok on remote and tv and waited for about a minute on each combination pressed at the same time and nothing came up.
Here are some pictures of the problem and the back of the tv
Hello again. I need your help and advise one more time
Some time ago a friend gave me a non working tv top see if I can fix it to give it to my kids.
Well, this tv as soon as I turn it on it starts changing colors one color at a time on the whole screen for a few seconds each color.
I googled and some people mention a reset pressing menu enter and power but that didn't work. I have no remote control and can't access any menu or change inputs.
What could this be?
Re: Olevia lcd tv continuously blowing a cap on power supply
Thanks again
I have a problem with another tv that was given to me some time ago for my kids if I can fix it of course, that has a different problem, but I will open a new thread and maybe you can point me in the right direction
Re: Olevia lcd tv continuously blowing a cap on power supply
Hey guys update is here, all of your suggestions opened my mind specially budm's, and I think I might have found the problem. Here are two pictures, the first with all the boards uncovered and the second one showing two caps blown on a small board to the left of the power supply that is fed by the section of the power supply that I was having problems with. You guys are awesome.
As soon as I replace these caps I'll update to see if that fixed the problem
Thanks a lot
Re: Olevia lcd tv continuously blowing a cap on power supply
I will post some pics later today and will check the other boards. I was thinking also like budm said maybe it was the cheap generic cap that I bought but will see. I'll post later when I get home
