  • Re: MS 7360 P35 Neo F V1

Thanks for that. Looking round the board there seems to be quite an assortment of radial caps, some black, some light blue and some brown so maybe there is some good caps in there. Impossible to tell makes and/or series with the board in the case.

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Been hanging around here and reading. Just done my first recap on a couple of Thomson routers with bulging CapXons. All went well.

    regards

  • MS 7360 P35 Neo F V1

Anyone know what caps are fitted on this board. Not having any problems but it is coming out of warranty soon so was just wondering without removing the board from case as it was bought pre-built.

The caps appear to be brown cases with light grey writing difficult to see what make they are. No bulging caps as yet. Tried looking at the pics in the good caps FAQ but couldn't see them.

Also another quick Q, I recently repaired a Thomson router with Panny caps as the CapXons were bulging and it was unstable. Have replaced with NHG series as these were the only caps in...

  • Re: Speedtouch 546 T2 v6 ADSL routermodem

So far so good. Have recapped both 546v6 routers, just the power supply caps of 1000uF 16v, 2 each, and no CRC errors over two short 15 min tests. Replaced the bad CapXon caps with Panasonics, originals were 6.3V have replaced with 16v caps to allow plenty of headroom. Now to test for a week each, am hoping this is a permanent fix.

My speedtouch 546 has started playing up. I was getting lots of CRC errors on my line all of a sudden. This came a week after a Phone Line repair by BT. So I tried the router in the test socket to make sure it wasn't my extensions and the router began rebooting constantly. Fortunately I have a spare 546 that I got off ebay so swapped the routers. No problems with the spare and hardly any CRC errors on the line after 3 hours. Now the nature of line faults can be intermittant so will have to monitor for a bit but hoping this...

  • Re: Philips 190/B6 Monitor OSD Fault.

Good thinking Batman, but I use screen alchohol wipes to clean the screen and they have very little fluid.

Previous monitor (warranty) failed with symptoms as if all keys were being pressed ie. volume, brightness and OK button after 2 and a half years of use. Interestingly this monitor has had about 2 and half years (bit more) since it's production in January 2006 which is stored in the NVRAM of the monitor. Also the running hours of the monitor in factory settings is 4084 hours. Out of 50,000 hours MTBF that isn't much.

Well so far so good. Replacing the three switches and cleaning the back of the board where the spark gaps are seems to have cured it for now. Have started a database of fail dates and fixes applied, fingers crossed, may have to repeat the cleaning at some stage. Next is to look at the caps on the scaler board see if any are bulging and possibly the power supply just in case the PSU is rippling and causing the register to get data. Feel free to shoot down my theories.

  • Philips 190/B6 Monitor OSD Fault.

Hi all newbie to this board here. Been having some problems with my Philips 190/B6 and the OSD intermittently flashing on and off. But I'm very rusty so need some help in diagnosing the problem.

This is the second monitor with a similar fault, first being replaced under warranty, but second is now out of warranty.

Fault appears to be as if the "OK/OSD" button is being pressed bringing up the OSD on screen sometimes momentarily then going off.

I've already had the monitor apart and cleaned the control board, which cured for 3 months then the...
