• Sony KDL-46W4100 bad TCON ?

Hello,
I am looking for advice on this TV. I believe it is a bad TCON but would really appreciate some advice before I tear into it and possibly waste my time and money. Thanks in advance for your input....

• Re: HP L1710 starts fine then solid white after a few seconds

Thanks for the ideas. I have reseated the cable from the logic board to the panel several times with no improvement. I will replace the caps on the logic board and report back.

Thanks for the fast reply. U701 is a 17-33L it has 5.2V in and 3.3V out . U702 is a 17-18L with a 5.2V in and 1.8V out. These voltages are the same when screen is working and when white.

• HP L1710 starts fine then solid white after a few seconds

I am having some trouble figuring what is going on with this. If someone has any ideas I would be grateful. I measure a consistent 5.2V at video board. When I first turn it on it works for maybe 15 seconds then solid white. If I turn it off and back on it works a little while shorter each time. No bulging caps on either board. I went a head and replaced one 470u 16V Elite on the PSU 5V rail with a 470u 25V Nichicon.
Thanks in advance....

Well, it has come to my attention that the LD108533 http://www.st.com/internet/com/TECHNICAL_RESOURCES/TECHNICAL_LITERATURE/DATASHEET/CD00001883.pdf does not have the same pin configuration as my original AIC1185-33 http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBUQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fdatasheet.digchip.com%2F022%2F022-39300-AIC1185.pdf&rct=j&q=AIC1185-33&ei=1-08Tey2DIOglAfHkoDqBQ&usg=AFQjCNGcPTQCB2Nfz8jAsyn4ucwA4bDEBw&sig2=aQkaxgZdN5xprIC2qr15Kg&cad=rja....

Thank you so much for the responses. Sorry if I did not make it clear that I pulled up the bottom right leg not the middle leg. I guess I should have added a d) bad soldering skills, to my original post. I use a Weller 25W iron and perhaps I overheated. Thank you for the brilliant idea of testing the old regulator with a battery. Using a 9V battery I was able to measure 3.3V on the output! I am not sure how to proceed from here.

• Re: HP LP1965

Hope that it is ok for me to jump on the end of this thread with a different problem with the same model monitor. I have a monitor that will not power on. I measured voltage on correct on power board but on the video board I measured 5V in and only .5V out on the AIC1185 33 PM. I pulled up the output leg on the regulator and still measured the same. Convinced that the regulator was bad I ordered http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=497-1222-1-ND...

Yet another big THANK YOU to PlainBill. I replaced the transformer and was rewarded with a beautiful bright display and one less monitor in the graveyard.

• Re: ViewSonic VG1930WM

Just wanted to update and give thanks to everybody and especially PlainBill. The VG1930WM is back in service!! I replaced U101 (the AS1117L-33 regulator) and the old girl reciprocated with a blue led then a full screen picture. No problems after several hours. Thanks again.

• Re: ViewSonic VG1930WM

Thanks for all the input. I never thought about the schematic being incorrect but it makes perfect sense when I see the input voltage of U102 is the same as U101 output. I was only able to get up to 3.1v with the batteries I have on hand(4 C's in a parallel series combo). When I apply the 3.1v to the output of U101 the voltage falls to 2.6v. Keep in mind that this test was performed with the input leg of U102 still lifted from the pad and the power on. Any advice from here is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the idea. I have lifted the leg off the pad for pin 3 on U102. I still get 1.26v on the pad and 4.89v on pin 3 of U101. Maybe C101 is shorting out?

• Re: ViewSonic VG1930WM

Thank you for the response. I measured U101 and 102 in circuit. The lowest reading I got was about 400 ohms between pins 1-2 on U102.

started a topic ViewSonic VG1930WM

ViewSonic VG1930WM

I am trying to res-erect a ViewSonic VG1930WM which shows no signs of life(no LED, no anything). I see no bulging caps. I have verified 14.7v and 5.19v from the power supply. I have attached a page from the LG L192WS manual which apparently uses the same control board(ILIF-020) as the ViewSonic. Pardon my sloppy notes on the schematic. My thoughts are that the voltage regulator U102 is bad. It is an AS1117L-18. I appreciate any input....

• Re: Samsung Syncmaster 932B

OK, upon further review it has been determined that the resistance across one pair is about 1K and the other is open. I have ordered the transformer(about 10 days from China). I will post when I get it installed. Thanks for staying with me on this.

• Re: Samsung Syncmaster 932B

OK,the plot sickens. I put the test lamps back on thinking there is no way either should work and now one set lights up and stays on. This may be what I experienced on my very first test after bringing it home when it came on for five minutes then went dead. At that time I was not able to set up a connection to see if the display seemed unusually dim. Is there something I can test now that we have it half working? Maybe I am completely confused about the transformer but don't the readings I got of open circuit with the dmm set to the lowest range(400...

Thanks for the response PlainBill. I have read many of your posts on here and I think it is great of you to take so much of your time to share your extensive knowledge. I have re-soldered the transformer connections and measured the points indicated. I read open circuit on all points. I guess next time I will try to keep my picture ratio the same when I resize to avoid the funny oval caps

• Samsung Syncmaster 932B

Request help on a Samsung 932B. I received it as a non working unit. When I went to test it it worked, but then quit after about 5 minutes. I opened it up a discovered that one set of lamps flashes on for a fraction of a second while the other remains dark. I have a a pair of lamps(total 4 ccfl) that I then used to test with the same results no matter which lamps were plugged in , only one plug on the board would flash momentarily. I believe it may be a transformer problem but I am not sure. Thank you in advance. Sorry if photos are not great, help me get better....

• Re: Dell 2007WFP Won't Power On

Just in case you have not, check warranty status of your monitor. I see many with a 3 year warranty and you said 2.5 year old Dell. I just hate to see it end up in a garbage fill.

Ok. looks like you were right. I pulled the lamps and they are black on the ends. Now to decide if I am skilled enough to try to replace them without breakage....

Wow! Thanks for the fast response. Would having no video input while turning on the monitor have go into stand by mode so the lamps do not stay be a way of eliminating them a one of the possible cause? When I do this the led light stays on for a while the shuts and will not come back on.
