Re: Vizio XVT3D474SV Completely Dead
Out of frustration, took the remote apart and found the ribbon cable broken. Can you find ribbon cable for repairs such as this?

Yes, and they're pricey!

I will try, but this one has the slide out key board on the bottom.

Just took my Time Warner remote handset and programmed it, and it worked. Must have something wrong with the Vizio factory remote

The numbers are the same. Not sure how to test the remote handset.

Re: Vizio XVT3D474SV Completely Dead
Thanks to ALL those that helped me with the troubleshooting and providing technical guidance, part came in today and that fixed the Vizio. Only issue is the remote control isn't working, not sure why. If anyone has any ideas I will certainly be willing to try.
Thanks again!!

Re: Vizio XVT3D474SV Completely Dead
Contacted Shopjimmy, but they do not have the part available, found the part at TV Central Parts.
After I install the new part, is there any software that has to be loaded or any special procedures required?
Thanks

Re: Vizio XVT3D474SV Completely Dead
Do you recommend replacing the main board3 647-0342-0150 (4B)? I did go there but they did not have the (4B) after the part number, is this something I need to ask for?
Thanks

Re: Vizio XVT3D474SV Completely Dead
Pin 13 has nothing and pin 14 has .006 VDC. No changes when I press the off/on switch.
Would the next step be to replace the main board or more troubleshooting? Is the main board the same one that ecking767 recommended in post 10?

Re: Vizio XVT3D474SV Completely Dead
Shopjimmy is closed for renovation. I did find some boards online but some of the parts numbers were not exactly the same?
I do have a question, I went back and checked for power on the power board (CN202) and pins 1-4 have 5.1 VDC and 10, 11, 12 have nothing. CN201 pins 6 and 7 have nothing and pins 8, 9 have 5.1
Wandering why I have the 5.1 VDC but no 12 VDC on either 201 or 202?

Re: Vizio XVT3D474SV Completely Dead
The Vizio logo does light up orange when I plug into AC power. The main board is the one in the center? Any recommendations as to where I can find the board?
Thanks

Re: Vizio XVT3D474SV Completely Dead
The Vizio logo does turn orange when plugged into AC power. Did check the processor and no change at all. What do I need to check when disconnecting the two ribbon cables.
Also nothing happens when I press the on/off switch.
Thanks for the Help!

Re: Vizio XVT3D474SV Completely Dead
I did record all the pins positions for 5 connections, however when push the off/on switch nothing happens and there is no change.
CN201 Pin 6 and 7 +12V:nothing Pin 8 and 9 +5.1VSB: 5.1 and no change with on/off
CN202 Pin 1,2,3,4+5.1VSB and only reading 5.1 on pins 1 and 2 and nothing on 3,4. PIN 5-9 are GND: nothing on all except 8, 9 which both have 5.1
Pin 10, 11, 12 +12V:Nothing
Note that CN202 is a double row of pins and the diagram just list 1-16 straight across, not sure if my evaluation...

Vizio XVT3D474SV Completely Dead
About 3 weeks back my Vizio started acting up and would have to be reset and this solved all problems. A few days ago hit the remote and nothing happened, went through the reset procedures and nothing happened to include the orange Vizio logo doesn't even light up. I contacted Vizio and they referred me to a company for repair, but they are not in my area and there is actually nobody locally I can find for repair.
So I began my troubleshooting and reading and have found several articles about bad capacitors and resistors with Vizio. I did check that 120 volts is going into the power...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hello All,
Looking forward to learning how to save myself money for simple repairs and gaining KNOWLEDGE from these forums. Never really used forums before but started a few years ago on an automobile forum that was way better than the information the dealer provided. Since then I have used forums for about any issue with anything and there seems to be people out there that have experienced the same issues with great ideas for repairs. Hoping I will have the same here.
Thanks,
David D
