for simple test, use 3 diodes in series(1.8v drop) form pin 4 to pin 5. (anode pin 4) pin 4=5v, pin 5=3.3v. (1n4007). if cpu overheat, most likely original problem. longest one running +- 1 year(still running but for safety i replaced diodes with mini-adjustable regulator). china chassis collection (4 circuits) was downloadable from kent liew website.

quite a few posts relate to checking back lights with power saver (neon). it will help you to get a better understanding of how to go about testing and improve your knowledge. running a set without protection can result in a burnt down house. one or more of the inverter transformers are most likely busy burning and that will cause the protection to operate.Leave a comment:

yes and no.seen some 50" with cracks like that still working. seen some with smaller cracks and blown buffers.never bothered with replacing blown buffers when screen cracked.Leave a comment:
