  • Re: Coby TFTV4025 Turns On and Right Back Off - Changed PS...Mainboard HS Caps?

Ironically, it's the second time this week I've heard someone refer to the phrase "a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing" but they weren't using it in reference to me, lol...

Thank you for the advice. I apologize for ignorantly calling the HS inductors "caps" when a googley image search does eventually show a picture of the same HS inductors, which I've never dealt with before and didn't know what to call them. Not too sure if the way the wrapper appears to...

Here is a little bit better photo of the caps I question and the glue all over them and a few other places on the board, including a connector close by that is slightly out of the picture. It is going to be a chore......

  • Re: Coby TFTV4025 Turns On and Right Back Off - Changed PS...Mainboard HS Caps?

The $6 inverter board came in today and did not resolve my problem, which I should have realized that the TV's blue light goes from standby, power on, then off with the inverter board not connected.

I will try removing the glue and seeing what happens.

It was a while ago when I tested the original power supply board, the readings from what I remember were ok (matched the values painted on the board). When I lifted a pad replacing a cap I thought may be bad and bought a replacement...

Thank you both for your time and information.

I went ahead and ordered a backlight inverter, can't believe they are as cheap as they are for this particular model.

I will report back the progress after I get it installed.

  • Coby TFTV4025 Turns On and Right Back Off - Changed PS...Mainboard HS Caps?

I am working on a Coby TFTV4025 that has standby light, then powers on and the screen shows the INPUT for half a second and then TV shuts down to standby light.

Voltages on PS appeared OK, but a few caps looked suspicious. Attempting to change the caps, a pad lifted so I ordered a replacement PS supposedly in working condition.

    TV still has same issue.

Suspecting mainboard 002-lt23-7611-00r V1 may be the problem.

Inspection shows 4 caps in the corner of the board that are covered with brown glue like substance, which appears in every...

  • Re: Philips 42PFL3704D/F7 White screen faint image vertical bar line

    Thanks for everyone's help.

I should have mentioned some of what is in the pictures are wooden saw horse legs and not lines on the television, however that white bar is pretty clear it's on the panel.

I'll accept defeat on this tv set as far as getting it back working, but there's always that slim chance I might need a part out of it that might work to get another set rolling.

Seriously, thanks for the help everyone offers. Glad that this place exists.

Here are pictures of my screen after I replaced the T con board.

Prior to replacement, the menu was no where near as "clear" as it is now.

Unfortunately, I still have the white vertical line.

Is this a sure candidate of a bad panel and I should give up?...

  • Re: Philips 42PFL3704D/F7 White screen faint image vertical bar line

I just installed my Toshiba labeled Tcon board with the same part number as my Philip's Tcon board and I can actually see parts of the on-screen menu very clearly, but there is still major problems on the screen like before with the large bar and white screen.

Not sure if the part is good or if something else is the issue. I didn't put all the covers and screws back in the chassis so maybe I have a grounding issue and I will go back and give it another try after I compare every number on my "new"...

  • Re: Samsung LN37A550P3F replaced Caps, white screen only

Hi, I also have a tv with the white screen and a wide line going down the left side. Looking closely, I can faintly see the on screen display. I had obvious damage to a chip on my Tcon board, which I ordered a replacement yesterday and should have in the next few days.

I have my own post about my set's issue, but the similarity of the white screens, I thought I would share that I will be making an update if replacing my tcon corrects my white screen/line issue - which may help someone in the ordering replacement...

Thanks for the tip and all the help.

I ordered one for a Toshiba but all the numbers seemed to match up. I'm paying a couple more dollars, but I am buying it from the neighboring state so it should get here sooner.

I WILL post back to report my results in case anyone else may come across the same issues. Fingers crossed I can come back in 3 days with good news.

  • Re: Philips 42PFL3704D/F7 White screen faint image vertical bar line

Again, I do appreciate your help.

From what I can tell, the top of the chip has the following printed on it:

    17868A
    S926

I have looked on the "big auction" website and see quite a few T cons with the same part number of V420H1-C12. One is for an Element brand and is half the cost of the one that says it comes from a Philips tv.

Do you happen to know if these boards are interchangeable with different brands or should I definitely stick with the...

Thank you for reading my post and your help.

I just noticed a chip on the T con looks pretty bad and one of the leads is different than the rest. I am attaching a photo of that chip.

This TV seems to have had bugs in it and I don't doubt a bug shorted out the chip.

I can still test the 18 numbered and 5 worded gamma test points for their readings, although I really think that chip is going to lead to a new (used) T con.

Is the T con failing something...

  • Philips 42PFL3704D/F7 White screen faint image vertical bar line

Hi. I have a Philips 42PFL3704D/F7 that will turn on and stay on with an almost solid white screen. You can barely see the on screen input on the screen so it is broadcasting.

Will a bad T con board be the cause of this?

I will attach a photo of my V420H1-C12 T con. A user with this board had mentioned in a different post about testing two particular locations:

    FP1 and CP5

one being a fuse, the other not sure if it is a fuse (brown surface mount cap).

My fuse read a reading of below 1 ohm setting my meter to 200. ...

  • Re: 42PFL3704D/F7 No picture

I also just received a 42PFL3704D/F7 that turns on with a white screen and a horizontal bar down the left side, but you can vaguely make out the on-screen menu. I took the back cover off of it and after all the roaches scuttled away, I don't see any bulging caps, but I do hear a crackling sound coming from the 2 yellow and black transformers? on the power supply?

I plan to inspect the boards better soon, but for now just stating I would also be interested if any of the original posters could confirm what did (or didn't) work for their r...
