Re: my MSI K9N SLI Platinum
Thanks for the tip, but since Arctic Silver doesn't give me this issue I'll just keep using that. Another lesson learned, no more standard paste for me.
Can't find any info on the AM2 pins, only 939, 940, 754. Oh well, we'll just see what the store says and go from there.
As for the FJs..they measure around 2.4 cm in height and 1 cm in diameter. It's not exact but it's the best I can do.

Re: my MSI K9N SLI Platinum
Oh right, forgot to say that I managed to straighten the bent pin and it looks and feels like new. Wouldn't want to give any wrong ideas.
Still..I don't feel comfortable with my CPU now..

Re: my MSI K9N SLI Platinum
Hello again,
I've had some trouble with my new motherboard..apparantly when I use memory in Channel A (DIMM 1 or 2), I get all sorts of BSODs during WinXP installation and errors in Memtest. Everything runs fine when using Channel B (DIMM 3 or 4), spent a whole day playing Oblivion with it. Tomorrow they're coming to pick up my board, test it and if indeed it's damaged, replace it.
I must say that I accidentaly bent a pin on my CPU when cleaning the pins because thermal paste got over them. I pulled the CPU along with the...Last edited by TomMe; 06-19-2006, 04:11 AM.

Re: my MSI passive GF 7600GT
Okay I won't.
edit: Well I must say, I'm not really into all of these technical details..but I'm developing a slight interest for it. I have a couple of books on the subject lying around, so I might grab them and start reading. Thanks for the info!...

Re: my MSI K9N SLI Platinum
Great, thanks guys!
I included a picture of the board, the KMGs have a red dot and a red arrow pointing towards them.
Lol!I think I'll stick with glue.
edit: Oh right, the picture is of the non-SLI version but the boards are practically the same....

Re: my MSI passive GF 7600GT
I see!I was wondering how you know the HM on my card is from 2005? Is H0524 some sort of "date code"?
Then about those Panasonic FJs, are you saying that even between Panasonic's own caps there is a quality difference? There are lots of them (FJ) on my motherboard.

my MSI K9N SLI Platinum
Today I examined the electrolytic capacitors on my newly bought MSI K9N SLI Platinum. I noticed the board is packed with a variety of capacitor brands. I was hoping you guys could point out any potential problematic ones (if any).

Re: my MSI passive GF 7600GT
Thanks for the reply! This puts me a bit at ease.
Although wikipedia states as bad caps.
I don't plan to overclock, but if I were to..would this increase the risk of caps going bad?
I'll examine the motherboard in more detail this afternoon and post a thread for it in the appropriate forum.Re: my MSI passive GF 7600GT

my MSI passive GF 7600GT
Hello guys,
Yesterday I received my MSI GeForce 7600GT with passive cooling (NX7600GT-T2D256EZ) and started investigating the capacitors used on it. I don't know much about the subject, all I know is that some types are considered bad and can cause problems. Unfortunately, my MSI card has a few of them.
Here is the list of caps used on this card, along with their markings:

2x Fujitsu (I guess..it's yellow and has an F on it)
-55°C - +105°C
16V 330uF

+105°C FJ...
