Re: Magnavox 42" LCD no Power
Check the small diode labeled 6079 on the board, it is located at the top left of the circuit board near the 2074 capacitor.

Re: Klh r5100 turns on then shuts off
Hi, I believe the white 5 watt emitter resistors are .22 ohms. Common values for those would be .1 .22 .33 .47 and would be marked accordingly.
Toasty is correct, it sounds like it is going into "protect" follow his advice and check all the output and driver transistors along with the emitter resistors.
Also check the power supply voltages with the cable on and off to see if they are balanced.
How many different speaker outputs are there? It looks like there should be 5.
Good luck...Last edited by Jon B; 11-19-2010, 08:33 PM.

Hi, polymer caps are the best you can use.

iMac G5 inverter question
Hello all
Does anyone know how to run an iMac G5 back light inverter off of an external power supply?
I am trying to setup a LCD panel for testing logic boards. I don't want to have to connect it to the inverter powered by the logic board.
I guess I need a pin-out for the inverter and how to handle the dimming circuit.
Please let me know if this would be better posted under another topic.
Thanks for any help pointing me in the right direction.

Re: Imac G5 Video/Display problems.
Has anyone figured this out yet? I have a iMac G5 2GHz that will display video to an
external monitor but no video to the internal LCD. I popped in a 1.6GHz logic board and
the internal LCD works fine.

Re: imac g5 1.6ghz 17" power supply
Yes, I have abandoned this type as well. If anyone wants the board for parts just pay postal fees and its yours.
Thank you Toatsy for all of your help.
I hope I can help you out sometime.

Re: imac g5 1.6ghz 17" power supply
I replaced the 2 bad FETs and tried to test the supply and no go.
The same FET on the far right just shorted again with no heat, smoke or sound just gone.
Has anyone figured this one out yet?
In the mean time I have recapped 3 more logic boards and supplies with no problems at all.
Thanks to all.

@Toasty
@Youfo
Hey guys, any updates on your power supplies?
Last week I picked up another bad supply and recapped it to get my imac going.
I still need to get this one fixed.

Great to hear you found it!
My guy was not even close.
When you get a chance, how the _ell did you find it?

HI Toasty, I've been working on this for a couple hours now and nothing but brick walls
A friend of a friend whos is a parts guru is checking on this as well.
I will check back with him in the morning.
Good luck

Re: Hello,Ersa,Metcal or Hakko?.
Sorry I was not clear, desoldering tip. I tried my hakko 807 style and did not have much luck.
I was thinking the tip size was wrong. I just could not get it to melt.
Thanks for any info.

Re: imac g5 1.6ghz 17" power supply
Hi Toast, looking again at Newark the $20.00 covers handling and shipping.
If you can use that part number we could split the fee. I could take 10 of them.

Re: imac g5 1.6ghz 17" power supply
Hi Toast, it was the FET at the far right.
It looks like 101nq03lt can be ordered on Newarks site but they want $20.00 handle fee.
Digikey has a STD70n03L (qty 167 in stock) I don't know if that helps you.
Comes close to the 101nq03lt volts, amps Vgs but the power dissipation looks way low for the current drain.
I will keep looking too.

Youfo
Make sure you read the post above carefully about testing the FETs in circuit.
Test the voltage of your analog meter while it is in the lowest ohm range and the highest ohm range.
The first vom I tried would not put out enough voltage to turn the FETs off causing low readings every where.
