  • Re: T-CON Check Spreadsheet

I downloaded the spreadsheet (ver1.1) into Excel and this is great. There seemed to be index references on the Detailed Results page, on the Monotonicity Test, Voltage column (Index 11 is duplicated from 10 and follows down to Index 19). I had a couple questions on the Symmetry Test. On the Fwd Volt you use the range from b7-b23 and on the Rev volt you use b7-b30. Should they both use the same range? Also in the column Fwd Norm, the first row starts with L18 and goes down to L12, then the next row is L19 and goes to L24. Is this suppose to be in this...

  • Re: Sony Bravia 55ex710 picture problem

I tried twisting the screen and the hair dryer on the tabs, made no difference. I did try putting the hair dryer on the t-con board and most of the screen cleared up. It still flickered, but much less. I tried taking the cables off each side of the t-con to get it to make a difference and then tried to put the left one into the right side and then the other side. When I did this I had to remove the t-con from the panel and after this the screen went blank and I can't seem to get it to come back on. I assume I must have shorted something, but...

When I first turned it on today, the right side was duplicated on the left side, but down the screen further. Could a panel problem do that?

  • Sony Bravia 55ex710 picture problem

A friend asked me to take a look at this tv and see if it could be fixed. He said the screen would be jumpy and doubled when it turned on and would clear up after a while. The while got longer and it no longer clears up. I attached a picture of the screen, although it doesn't show how it flickers and jumps. I checked as best as I could and didn't see anything obvious on any of the boards. I unplugged and reseated all the cables, as well as put pressure on the frame for the tabs and nothing made any difference. I thought it might be the mainboard and tried to find a replacement, but I can not find...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi, everyone seems to tell their first computer. I was given an old DOS computer and needed to upgrade it to use Windows 3.0 so it would take a mouse. With no knowledge of computers, my programmer brother talked me through replacing the motherboard, etc. (from 3000 miles away). After many months I somehow got it to work. I have since taken classes on hardware and software programming, but mostly learn as I go. I have started repairing TV's and have learned to solder capacitors. I have read threads on this forum and learned a...
