  • Re: Vizio E321VT picture upside down

Never mind it is a bad mainboard. Discovered that it will not program channels. it also stops working until i unplug it and then it will work only on one channel.
I will remove the back and do some pics and the normal routine.

Have no remote for this one but it has a very good picture, it is just upside down. I looked thru the menu and tried Factory reset but it is still upside down.

  • Re: Samsung UN58H5202AF - killing mosfet.. no power

First thanks to both of you guys for helping.

What i did was pulled all the diodes and tested. tested caps.. they are ok also.
I put it all back and put the new mosfet on. Then went with the silicone solution to cool the 3 mosfet that are getting hot under the board. I also tested the backlights with the cheap little tester (did not pull the panels) the top pair pulled 98.6 from the tester.. the bottom pair pulled 68.7v.
I re-connected and powered on and the LED rail voltage (read from...

OK I read the other posts and found same burned board and Q9101 shorted as budm
So I replaced the Q9101 (ordered from mouser) anyway it worked great for 3 hours and blacked out so i pulled the board and same mosfet Q9101 is shorted again.. there are 3 very brown spots on this board over the two in the middle QM801cs and qm802cs also brown at the 4 diodes at very top of cold section DM841-844 C they seem to be getting hot also... i bought 5 mosfets but don't want to waste another without trying to isolate the cause.. a long shot could be a defective new part but i doubt that seeing the heat...

Yup the big filter cap in the middle was vented to meltdown....
Replaced all the caps and VIOLA!!! Back in action!

not familiar with element brand but this thing is built like a tank..
Just cheap caps but it is pretty solid otherwise.
    Date stamp is 2008
went up on the voltages of the caps a wee bit just to keep er cool..

    Done...

Element ELCHS321 Comes on then buzzes and the picture (menu and all) starts flickering off/on rapidly.
As soon as i got the back off i saw the trouble but then decided it was too good not to share this one....
    Classic Bad Caps.

Clue is on the power supply and the obvious swollen small caps i thought at first... then I saw "IT"... LOL...

EDEN EC210 - 180W Bass amp - crackle noise and low gain in power amp output
Pre amp output thru effects send is clear as a bell.
Power amp stage is crackling and has no gain but is slightly audible when preamp is over halfway up.

Was loaned out and came back fried... trying to find a schematic of the power amp stage.. very cheap looking build, no big power amp chips, I am wondering where the heck 180 watts comes from..LOL

Probably why it is fried... Overdriven or external speaker impedance

Hope someone has schematic or experience with...

Thank you very much my friend.

You are confirming my thought.. Can the RS880M be purchased or my thoughts are is this one even worth the effort....

Gateway MS2285 - turns on no post or video but will post video occasionally

It booted 2 times out of 30 trys and froze before completely booted.
Not memory or any devices attached have removed and tested all.
Hard drive is good, ram is good, wireless is good.
I am sure it is motherboard related so i wanted to try and run this one down for the experience of learning. Does anyone know where I can find a schematic for this MB please....
If you have seen this on this model please enlighten me....
    Thanks

  • Roland KC-300 Works for a bit then goes into severe distortion

Roland KC-300 Works for a bit then goes into severe distortion.
When I put on the bench with my tone generator it was clear at first but when i raised the levels past "5" on input gain and main output it started small distortion at first then when i did a full sweep thru the frequency range it suddenly went to severely distorted.
didn't know if any of you guys had seen one do this, going to try and find the schematic to start testing.
    Thanks

  • Re: LG 42PT350-UD Audio no picture and no prime.

    FINAL POST: Fixed
OK part came early. Not complaining about that.
Installed the control board and it works perfectly.
This is the second plasma to run around the Y-board loop only to be
a cheap simple control board fix.
Audio but no picture, test the control board as well as the y-board....

Well I almost don't believe this myself... decided to kill some time while waiting on pc scans and put this tcon under the microscope to see what is what. I noticed (when in the TV and on) that there was no voltage at IC171. I pulled up the datasheet for it and found out it is a 1.2v regulator. So I followed the input pin... tested continuity to ground and bam dead short... a BAD CAP.... I haven't pulled it yet but I will and see what happens when i replace it..... gotta be kidding me..... that can't be it.....
    Pic has cap in...

I am glad I am not the only one. My dislike for them seems to grow daily.
BUT as long as I don't have to lift one or work on one... they do have a lovely picture. Sorry i'm no help on this one... I have had two now that ate my lunch dinner and breakfast again.. and the trouble was Tcon. I don't see one on yours and every plasma failure is a new and exciting rabbit chase it seems... all the best and if I do run upon something useful I will pipe in again....

I took the photos when first set it on the bench. Screws are all in now. Fellow it belongs to had them in a zip lock bag.....

Control boards were dirt cheap.... one is on the way, supposed to arrive next wed.. 30th

    I will re-post result.

thanks again, I feel 80% confident the control board is the dog...

Thanks tom66 .. Grab that service manual I bought for this model to add to your collection. It has a lot of good info for main board and programming setup.
I don't know which resistor and no documentation for this chassis. I have 200.1v across the VY resistor it is marked clearly.

I was also thinking the control board. since the fellow who this belongs to wants it bad I am going to put the ball in his court....
The buffer on this one is simply made and tests out perfectly on the bench....

This thing is making me bat crap crazy... even when the buffer board is off. The Y board is totally disconnected. NOTHING CHANGES. Red standby LED... press power VS and VA activate on the PS and Z board and stay on. the red light (on front) goes out when turned on.. exactly the same as when all is connected. I am now going to disconnect the controller board from the Z board to see what happens.

Disconnected the Z-board from the controller.. same thing no change at all.
Now disconnecting the A main from the controller...

  • Re: LG 42PT350-UD Audio no picture and no prime.

Need help on checking the VSC and VPP I found some pins marked on P211 bottom connector. VSC from pin to chassis ground was -55.6v
VY has a clearly marked test point and reads stable 200.1v (there is a resistor and test points are leg to leg and marked + on one - on the other.
I thought VSC was supposed to be way higher but then i have nothing to go by. The LG chassis document Tom66 shared is totally different from this model- it's T3 not T1
Could you guys tell me how to test the VSC and VPP correctly please?...
