Re: Enermax Liberty ELT620AWT
I've been considering the Infiniti (Review here) for a new PC I'm building, however I dont want to worry about it failling anytime soon and was wondering if anyone has heard more about the CEC-United Electronics Ltd brand and what the cap quality is like. Also
I notice most PSUs use Teapo even for high end! Are they still bound to fail or would they be okay in a PSU?Re: Enermax Liberty ELT620AWT

Re: Acer AL1715 briefly works then goes black
I generally don't bother to discharge caps before working on them (high voltage isn't that bad ) but my suggestion is to try to power up the monitor without the power cord plugged in. In my experience this will discharge the cap through the internal circuitry and seems to work for most electronics, however if you want to be really safe I would suggest to follow this page http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/cap_test.html (if it works for microwave caps im sure it will provide you...

Re: Acer AL1715 briefly works then goes black
Hi Steve,
I don't know if you have tried this or not but my first suggestion would be to unplug the display completely (signal cable and CCFL cables) then use a CCFL (can get these at most electronics stores) to test if it turns off after a few seconds(don't forget to check all 4 outputs). I say this as I recently worked on a Dell LCD which would also turn off after a few seconds caps tested ok. Turned out that there was nothing wrong with the circuit but the screen was damaged due to someone dropping it, once the screen...

LG 787LE with molten metal film
Hi,
I have an LG 787LE monitor with 2 faulty caps. It appears they have been hit by a surge. I'm trying to find replacements but am having difficulty matching size with value. They are marked as "2μ2J 63". According to guides I found on the net that would make these 2.2uf 5% 63v. However units of similar specs are much larger (at least the ones i found). These 2 are 7.5mm long 6mm wide and about 13mm tall with a pitch of 5mm. The only other marking on them is what I assume is a manufacturers logo, it looks like a "T" with the vertical line like this "/"....
