Re: panasonic TC-P50U50 8 blinks
R501 was dead, its back to life after the fix. I guess it was on its way out and my previous fix finished the job. Swapped all the screws for spring and flat washered machine screws scavanged from old network swithches, after wicking off all the solder around the holes and getting rid of the braid patch.
Im now looking for a 5v whisper quiet fan to vent the heat but mounting and vibration must be a concideration given that it will be attached to the back panel, any suggestions?

Re: panasonic TC-P50U50 8 blinks
That sounds like a good course f action to me. Im waiting on a pack of 5.6ohm resisors to arrive in the next few days so this is something to be getting on with. Ill wick off all the solder thats heaped up around the bit of braid thats been stuck on on by the last repairer too then fix the trace under it which was probably arced through.
Got the launettes out and had a good close up view today.. R501 definitely looks brown compared with its twin further down the board so more than likely its out of spec and for what they cost i may...

Re: panasonic TC-P50U50 8 blinks
Have you or someone else done this patch mod? Im curious that its this tiny trace that is causing the POST to report an error and tripping the 8 blink warning. Screw tightened up on installation, Set warms up and the backplate expands, screws loosen a touch and the backplate oxidizes a little until poof! Would a ground strap tied to one of the spare mounting lugs be an idea and soldered to the ground of the board direct istead of it being shared with a load baring screw?...

Re: panasonic TC-P50U50 8 blinks
Trying to resurrect the euro tx version of these and have switched out for new the 2 common failed components. The set fired up 1st time and i then set about adressing the poor cooling and sourced a super silent 80mm 5v fan that i intended to run from the usb 5v line. However today i have just tried the set and its 8 blinking again grrr. Total run time of the set since the repair is less than 30 minutes and that was broken by 3 power cycles just to check my work.
Ive not pulled the board again as of yet and im leaving it to discharge...

modify a dell server psu to work in a shuttle x pc
Brief, psu died in shuttle, too far gone to be recoverable.
Went through my pc scrap and pulled a slim line 280w from a gutted out power edge 750 that works fine.
It has a 20 pin atx and 6pin power connection. The pinouts are standard for atx except for the fact that there is a +3.3vsb on the 6 way along with the 2 12v suplimentary lines and There is no purple +5vsb on the 20way.
Compared with standard atx 20 pin and other than the missing +5vsb averything is the same including colour code (i expectected it to be as Dell has been using standard atx since 2000...

Re: sony kdl-22ex320 fuse blows after 10 mins
After much agro here is the schematic, no component list for it though.
Thanks for trying to help and dealing with my abstract ramblings. Pain meds can take me on some weird mental journeys.
Current state of play is..
There is no 3.3v stb output
The 12v line comes back briefly after 240v applied then decays rapidly (because of the lack of stb switching?)
The unregulated 24v line for the backlight reads 17v then decays away.
Levels from all the windings on the low...

Threw it up on MEGA for anyone to check out.

Re: sony kdl-22ex320 fuse blows after 10 mins
Had a senior moment today, there's me thinking there is no 3.3v stb when it dies, perhaps I should check the gator clip in the negative probe is actually OK before relying on the meter readings. It seems that the stb does drop out for a while but comes back fairly quickly it just doesn't seem to wake the beast.
So today I soldered the clip onto a spare banana lead and.went a-probing. To which I ended up briefly shorting the gate and drain of that solitary j649 MOSFET and cha-ching the pos turned on! So either the FET is...

Re: sony kdl-22ex320 fuse blows after 10 mins
That's right, although I have not run through them on the millivolt range. All the pins that registered 12, 5 and 3.3v when it was operating showed no significant charge. I did notice however that the 12v lines seemed to creep up to 12.8/9 when working after a while which seems odd. Perhaps this is a symptom worth chasing?Last edited by KountZERO; 09-21-2018, 11:41 AM.

Re: sony kdl-22ex320 fuse blows after 10 mins
No standby voltage at pin 10 on the connector when the shut down happens. Seems to occur faster when there is More residual charge in the caps. Fully discharged, the TV can stay on for nearly an hour, just turning off for a few minutes results in a shut down just after the snow of analogue appears.
Few pics of the reverse side attached....

Re: sony kdl-22ex320 fuse blows after 10 mins
Is there not one next to the main transformer, to the left in the 1st pic? FB303
Sorry, been a couple of years since i got the test gear out so im out of practice. Ill put some high res pics on as soon as i sort the lighting out. Was too dark just now for close ups and too much glare with the flash.Last edited by KountZERO; 09-20-2018, 12:41 PM.
