  • Re: LG 55LA6200 Back light strips

Yeah man TBH this was the most tedious part of it lol i didnt want to risk the new tape not sticking to the old tape and fall off down the track. Ur right tho i have noticed a couple spots do look normal which i find odd but the majority say other wise.

TBH i cant say unless i strip the TV a part again but from when the new strips arrived they did look the same but again i cant say i really paid that close attention to them as i just installed them assuming they will be the same being direct replacements....

Ive already shown photos are u not looking at them? Ive already mentioned i taped up these 2 sheets in the corners before i removed them so pretty much they came out the same way they went back in, with tape i cant mix them up....

I found the back light setting turned it all the way down to 0 but on the black blank screen i can still see the LEDs but to me on the blank screen it didnt seem to change the picture brightness until i had a signal from the TV? i tried turning it down to 20 as suggested also i can still see the LEDs in the lighter colours but not always. im not sure if because i know of the issue now that its becoming more obvious and sticks out and i didn't notice it b4 but i think i would have?

    yeah as per photos above...

Yeah both defuse sheets are there i taped the corners b4 i removed them so they were easily removed together and stayed in the one place. The top sheet had a rainbow colour to it sitting on top so i placed it back in the same way so im guessing this has to be correct? All stand offs were put back properly, not sure how anyone could break these they were fairly simple to remove but yeah all good.

I didnt try any settings TBH i didnt know there was such a setting? so i'll have a look and see if i can find it, but even if there was/is...

  • LG 55LA6200 Back light strips

Hey guys not sure if this is an actual issue or not but thought id ask anyways.

Recently my 55" LG TVs back light strips failed, using this site i managed to fault find and repair them today which all went well.

The Issue im uncertain on is the replacement LED strips i bought thats supposed to be direct replacements for my TV, im unsure if maybe i purchased the wrong type or the suppliers specs are out and not exact like the originals? I've noticed i can kind of see the LEDs behind the panel during some shows (mainly sports on green playing fields) now and on...

sure i'll have a look when I get it back out of the TV at some time. can u list the references to the components so I know which ones u need exactly?

seems these are hard to find even a replacement board for them so these TV's are pretty much a throw away jobby. I still haven't bothered to try re-balling the CPU yet....

Just thought not sure if it made a difference as to ahy I didn't see the red line before, the video gaming screen was played through the standard AV output and the blu ray movie was through HDMI Via PS3

  • Re: List Of Vestel Tv Brand Names

how do u know if they are vestel TVs? I'm assuming I have one that was given to me to try repair, since its a craply made TV too, GVA? trying to find parts isn't easy mayb this is why I'm looking in the wrong direction for them?

  • Re: Samsung PS-42S4H flashing pixelated screen

Just noticed something I'm not sure if its normal or not, I didn't pick up on this on the super marios screen before but on the blue screens looking back before I can see now I had the same issue present. I haven't used this TV really since the repair.

There's 1 red vertical line right on the right hand side panels edge, I assumed this was normal when I was originally working on it and thought from the close up angle I was looking at I thought the TV's frame would cover this and thought nothing of it but only now that...

  • Re: SMD cap concern

well ive removed C59 and C60 and tested them with the ESR meter, don't know if results will differ being one is a bi polar cap or not?

    C59 11.79uF, 2.9ohms, 1.4% Vloss
    C60 10.49 uF, 1.9Ohms, 0.8% Vloss

Mayb a bit off topic stj but I must disagree slightly ive seen a lot of the Audio PCBs on the game gears need recapping just not as much as the main board but the same issues pop up on them.

  • Re: SMD cap concern

I will probably do that anyways but still would like to know if the visual inspection is showing a bad cap or not? since its not showing any leaking what so ever. I can easily remove it since no legs are broken yet and use the ESR meter on it.

your right these caps from around this era is prone to leaking on a number of consoles which is why I check them ...

  • SMD cap concern

I have a super Nintendo that I have opened up to inspect its caps and to see if there's any common trace damage cause by these.

Upon opening this console, C59 and C60 are the common caps to leak and damage traces underneath. Not sure if the photos show well enough but the C59 caps top is actually inverted as if something or somone has pushed on the top of it quiet hard (no signs of this tho). Is this another way of finding faulty caps? I haven't seen this as such before so thought id ask.

  • Re: GVA LED LCD picture dissapears

Is the firmware stored on the IC (I think its BGA actually) that's directly above the CPU that's rectangular shaped?

if firmware is an issue with other motherboards that I can find but are not the exact same as mine shown, could I simply swap over that small chip? I guess that's provided this board does have a good flash tho but can I rule out bad flash somehow or is the only way to do that is to read whats on it?

I have a BGA rework station id prefer to use that, I don't believe in heat gun methods unless they are only used for temp data retrieval and that's it. heat guns should only be used to strip paint LOL.

I guess the question I asked so its only the plastics I need to be carful of and not so much the elec caps? I can mask these with alu tape as my rework station uses IR so it should reflect most of the heat where its not needed....

can u put any insight on if I need to remove caps before attempting a reflow or even re-ball on the CPU? or will they be fine...

Does the factory order number need to be the same as mine? I have a seller suggesting that if this is not the same the T-con will be different so will the firmware so it wont work if they are not? or could he just be saying this to cover his arse in case it doesn't work?...

    LOL yep this one

Processor being the CPU yeah? I can try reflowing the CPU with my bga rework machine tho how do the larger caps go with heating the board up to 170-220*? must they be removed 1st? this mother board is thin and I can see its not 100% flat with no real board support so it wouldnt take much to bend/twist naturally breaking these solder joins under normal use.

If its eeprom flash I think that's far from my capabilities tho where would I find where its stored?

Ive got freeze spray on hand...

  • GVA LED LCD picture dissapears

Have been given a (no real brand name) GVA LED LCD to try see if I can repair. Its probably not worth the time and effort but hey its good learning experience for myself :P

    TV model: GVADLED32C
    Main board: TP.SIS231.P83

Symptom: TV turns on and after 5-10mins the picture will fade from right to left to a black blank screen.

I noticed the back lights must work as the TV does display some sort of black lighting on screen as soon as I turn it off it goes totally black like it should.

After it goes into this state I cant turn the TV...
