Re: 820-2936 2011 Macbook pro - Dim Green Light
Yes, I should've mentioned. Will not turn on. Not getting any voltage at U5400. There is voltage going into U7000

820-2936 2011 Macbook pro - Dim Green Light
Hi,
I've got a dim green light on charger. Any tips what could be the trouble area. This mac had bad water damage.

Re: Macbook A1278 2011 MC700LL/a 820-2936 no Backlight issue
I am providing C3890 with the voltage is says it requires? Look at page 36 PPVIN_SW_T29BST (Under page notes it says 8-13V). Are you sure it is suppose to get 3.3V?
After I provided it with 12v is when it worked...thats when I got:
C3890 = 12V
C3892 = 5.1v
R3891 = 12v
C3880 = 12v
and I was getting 15V at pp15V_T29
As for the 50V. I wasn't sure. On the schematic at L9701 it says VOLTAGE=50V. Also at PPVOUT_SW_LCDBKLT it says Voltage =50v....it's suppose to be 12v?...

Re: Macbook A1278 2011 MC700LL/a 820-2936 no Backlight issue
12V at 21-22
Should I keep the jumper on c3880 to c3890, or trace the cause of this issue? I couldn't figure out what was a bad connection which is why I added the jumper.
I'll focus on page 77 like you said. It seems to me that the issue is that I am getting 12v when I should be getting 50v (places like C9799 I get 12v).
What converts the 12V to 50V? Is it u9701?

Re: Macbook A1278 2011 MC700LL/a 820-2936 no Backlight issue
If I remove the jumper I added from c3880 to c3890 then everything drops way down.
C3890 = 4.6v (crawls up to 5v
R3891 = 4.6v
C3892 = 3.3v
l3895= 4.5v
Correction::
C3890 = 0.46v (crawls up to 5v
R3891 = 0.46v
C3892 = 0.33v
l3895= 0.45vRe: Macbook A1278 2011 MC700LL/a 820-2936 no Backlight issue

Re: Macbook A1278 2011 MC700LL/a 820-2936 no Backlight issue
I tried a reflow by heating it up with some flux. No change.
I can't measure Q3880 directly since it's covered with the clear sealant that looks like hot glue. If I measure C3890 I get 12V
C3892 = 5.1v
R3891 = 12v
C3880 = 12v...

Macbook A1278 2011 MC700LL/a 820-2936 no Backlight issue
Macbook A1278 2011 MC700LL/a 820-2936
No backlight. There was liquid damage on the bottom of the board. L3895 was getting around 4-6 volts.
On the top of the board C3890 was getting the same voltage so I decided to pass 12v from PPBUS_G3H (off C3880). When I did this U3890 seemed to come to life and produced 15v. L3895 went up to 12.5V.
My question is this, I am still not getting backlight. I have BLK_EN (3.04V) and BLK_PWM at U9701. I am thinking maybe L3895 has gone bad?
Anyone else have any ideas? Anywhere else to check.

Re: Macbook mid-2012 Keyboard issue
I just got it working. I attached a separate trackpad(from a 13" mbp) and it works. I guess it was just because no trackpad was attached. Is that normal?
Once I attached it seems to be working fine.

Macbook mid-2012 Keyboard issue
I recently fixed a macbook pro 15, however, I am having some issues figuring out whats wrong with the keyboard.
I replaced the one it had in there since it was sticky and wasnt working. It was working with some keys, but only on startup.
Now with the new keyboard its doing the same thing. Only works on startup then it wont do anything. On startup if I press the caps lock it quickly goes off. (light on then off)
It seems like something is shorting it out. Anyone have any advice or experience something like this before?

Re: Locating short - A1286 2.3GHz i7-3615QM - 820-3330-B
So I realized I put the battery plug in backwards. The battery is from a 20120 and this board has the plug tilted 90 degrees and the plug goes in the other way around.
Now, when I plug in the battery and cable I just get a green light. Won't start and no reaction from keyboard. The battery check button flashes.
Looking at the board view of the board that the battery came from I am seeing that the wiring order is different. Is this true? Will a battery from an 820-2850 work in the 820-3330?

Locating short - A1286 2.3GHz i7-3615QM - 820-3330-B
Hello, I have a macbook pro 820-3330-B logic board that's giving me some issues. I had it post with chime without the display connected. When I tried to connect the display the board stopped going to post (no chime).
Now when I plug it in it starts itself (w/ or without the display connected) and it slowly spins the fans. They spin up then spin down. I am getting a 12v reading at the fuse near the lsdv connector that jumps up and down. I believe the connector on the display was damaged causing the issues.
I was wondering if I could get some help locating the short?...

The bottom slot on when rams installed. Bottom when logic board is installed.

Well. Looks like it was the keyboard. Im now looking into ram slot issue. One slots still usable but would be nice to have two!

Macbook Pro A1278 820-3115-B
I have a macbook pro with a bad logic board. Trying to isolate the issues. The macbook starts right away if I plug it in, and stays on (wont shut off with power button). The battery does charge and if I unplug the macbook it will stay on battery power.
Also, the bottom ram slot is giving me the three beep error, though right now this is secondary to the power issue.
Any ideas on where to look?Last edited by xalu; 05-09-2015, 09:31 PM.

Re: Micron SSD missing component off board...
found it on the motherboard. The tape I used to temporarily hold it down ripped one off. The components on this board are incredibly fragile. The solder either sucks or maybe the board just was very hot at some point? It already happened again. So I dont have a good feeling about this SSD.

Micron SSD missing component off board...
Hi...
So I have this micro sata ssd hard drive. It appears to have blown a cap. My new meter is missing the capasitance measurement.
Anyone know how I can find out what this caps value was? I thought they were resistors since they are so dark, but when I took an ohms reading it kept climbing. Looking at it more closely I realized it was a dark brownish color.
Here is a picture of one pulled from google
I am missing the component bottom middle tp the right of the letters/numbers....
