I have an old Viewsonic VP201b that has worked for many years, and finally started to flicker for several seconds upon first turning it on in the morning. By flicker, I mean the display quickly pulses on and off for a few seconds, and finally becomes stable.

I took the monitor apart and first suspected the power supply, because I was measuring the voltage during the flickering, and the power supply would quickly dip down below it's nominal voltage. But then I took the power supply out and replaced it with an external supply, and that did the same thing,...
