• Re: ViewSonic N3760w LCD with bad caps

Akeister,
Thanks for the reply.....that almost sounds to easy and good to be true!! I'm going home from work in another 5 minutes and give it a try and then order these up. If all goes according to plan I should have this bad boy up and running by the middle of next week. I'll get back to ya once I'm watching some baseball on it!!

Many thanks to all that helped out!!

• ViewSonic N3760w LCD with bad caps

The power supply on this ViewSonic TV appears to have some bad caps. When trying to turn the TV on I get nothing. There are 4 Capxon caps with swollen tops that appear bad, but I would like to change them all. I have dealt with Digikey before but would like to know if the site sells an equivalent replacement and what the shipping options would be. Below is a list of what I would like to replace. If someone would be kind enough to give me their opinion as to what they would recommend to use for replacement, I would greatly appreciate it!

All are Capxon caps:

Qty-3...

• Dell Monitor E177FPb Horizontal Lines

After repairing three monitors for friends, and one of my own, the neighborhood has anointed me as the monitor repair guy, thanks to my secret weapon..... this site and everyone who has helped me. I don't do this for a living, but I have had some success until now!

The Dell monitor E177FPb, that I have now, is giving me fits because I can't find an obvious solution for the horizontal lines that are showing up across the screen. I have checked for bad caps, cold solder joints, but I haven't started to test components on the board yet.

I have included a photo of the...

• Re: novus plastic polish

dmbj,
Sorry I can't offer you anything helpful when it comes to using novus. I have used Nu Finish, "Scratch Doctor", Clear Coat Scratch Remover before and I had some good and some not so good results.

What I did determine, is the obvious.....some scratches come out very well, others not so well depending on the severity. I do have some "nice" scratches that might need a sand blaster or pressure cleaner to get them to even budge!!!!

If you don't mind me asking, how do you like using freecycle.org?...

Endevite,
Sorry for the delay in getting back....sometimes life's situations trump our hobbies. Anyway, no, unfortunately they will be a little to large for the spot. Thanks though, and thanks again for all of the other help. The caps are all in....great quick shipping from Digi-Key and now I'm going to work!!

• Re: HP VS17X Monitor issues

I can't thank everyone enough for their help in getting this going, especially to PlainBill, & endevite for taking the time to put together that awesome replacement list!! Endevite, in answer to your one question about the dimensions of the x1 - Su'Scon 82uf 35v UK 105 degrees, the dimensions are 8x11. I hope that helps or confirms your replacement recommendation.
Many thanks again for all of the help with this project!!

started a topic HP VS17X Monitor issues

HP VS17X Monitor issues

I was given an HP VS17X monitor that will not come on at all. The power light comes on, but the monitor will not and I could not see if the backlight was coming on briefly or not. I ulled it apart and found two bad caps that had bulging tops, one with an orange substance on the top.

After reading a lot I found that ALL of the capacitors on this board are on your bad caps list. I have included a list of all caps with specs and some photos. Could someone kindly point me in the right direction as to where the best place would be to find suitable replacements? Thank you in advance...

• Re: ViewSonic VP201s looses display!!

Bill,
I apologize profusely for compressing the picture. My intention was completely non-malicious! I added the arrow in Word which changed the extension and it would not upload as a "docx" file.....every site is different I guess. Thanks for the heads up about it.

Back to the issue at hand, once I have completed the testing of the caps, which may take some time because of my schedule, I will let you know the outcome. Thank you very much for your help with this!!

Everything is apart and the back light comes on for two seconds and then goes out!! I have attached a picture and arrowed an area where there is a faint humming noise where I first turn the monitor on. Thanks again for the help guys!!...

Weirdlookinguy & PlainBill,
Thanks for the advice!! I shined the light and I don't see any of the desktop. After looking at the screen in a completely dark room it appears that the monitor is not totally black after the little monitor display disappears....if that help to analyze the problem.

• ViewSonic VP201s looses display!!

I just joined and love the site....very nice!! I finished reading some interesting info at this thread about the same model ViewSonic monitor with different issues: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=6660&highlight=viewsonic+vp201s

Anyway, my VP201s lost the display and when I re-checked things and plugged the cable back in all that happens is I get a picture of a small monitor and it goes through what looks like a progression check for what type of connection or cable you have connected to the monitor. It will show a picture of a small monitor and say...
