• Re: Outside AC Unit Contactor Wiring Question

What is the "SST"? I got "Single Shot Transistor" or "Sub-Surface Telephone", etc...

The "return air" shares the same air as the garage. The inside unit sits with the top completely exposed to the attic and I could gut every single member of the crew that installed it with a K-Bar, so that their guts all go splat into a large, white vinyl tub, and I send those guts to their mothers, wives and daughters as a permanent expression of the level of contempt I have for...

  • Outside AC Unit Contactor Wiring Question

    Second Title:

Did John Wayne Air Conditioning Deliberately Fuck-Up my A/C Unit's Contactor's Wiring in Order to Sell me a New System?

I'm framing this in the theoretical right now because I haven't got the pictures handy, but I have a "before" and an "after" that I can't get to right now, but I DO have time to post so I'm making the most of what I have right now, which is time to post not time to dig around trying to upload photos. The answer may not require them, however if it does I can post them later today, tonight, tomorrow.

  • Re: WebRTC Discussion

It is malware. The belief that it is not is pollyanna propaganda. It hands over information despite delibarate efforts by the Computer User to prevent the information transfer. It cannot be turned off. Efforts to prevent it's functionality have been thwarted by Google. The only way to prevent it from betraying your anonymity and privacy is to completely remove anything related to Google. Not even Internet Explorer has this malware infection hard-wired and embedded to it. The idea that it is required to perform any function at all is a lie, and...

    WebRTC Discussion

I'll describe what I think I know thus far. I've just discovered that there is some kind of service or function called "WebRTC" that will deliver a computer User's real IP Address despite their efforts at hiding it. At this point I'm calling it malware, because it performs exactly like malware and thus far I can find no positive purpose for it's existence, other than vague and ambiguous generalities like "it makes things better" and "improves gronkgockulating performance" and other meaningless mish-mash dribble-drabble intended to distract and satisfy substandard...

  • How to Measure True Laptop Battery Output?

We just bought a new battery for my wife's laptop. The standard, OEM battery was a 6-cell and on eBay I found a 12-cell battery that claimed 10,500 mAh (I think that's the number) for $20.00. One of those "If it sounds too good to be true..." type of moments. I confess. I was weak. I paid that $20.00 and bought that cheap battery hoping to get something for nothing.

Anyways it showed up incredibly fast (2 days, priority mail, which I didn't ask for or pay for) and it fits perfectly. Super large it causes the laptop to slant forward now because it's almost twice as thick...

Did we decide this was a desktop or a laptop?
    Thermal compound at CPU/HSF interface?
GPU seems hot to me with that CPU load.
I'd wonder what else might be running in background.

OP, is there any chance you are infected? Sometimes malware runs your CPU up to 100%. Can you post a screen shot showing Task Manager showing your running processes?

  • Re: How to Bypass HVAC Thermostat to Test Outside Unit

Thanks that's what I needed to know. R to Y. The transformer is fastened to the wall inside the HVAC closet, and we've already measured 24 VDC present. I'll try jumping it today and report results later. Thanks again....

  • Re: Capacitors in CFL's

So thus far I'm gathering that there are inherent flaws with the whole technology and nothing particularly centered on the capacitor(s). Any specific recommendations? From what I've read, LED's are favored but the cost is beyond what is reasonable for most households.

  • Capacitors in CFL's

Just now I was reading-up on light bulbs in general, CFL's in particular and wondering if it would be worth it to replace all the bulbs in the house with CFL's. Wikipedia says the energy savings and life expectancy is better:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_fluorescent_lamp

Sounds good, I thought. But then I thought about Obama, the Democrats, the Leftists in general and the level of bull-headed pressure they use to get people to do what doesn't come naturally. Remember Jimmy Carter and sweaters? I froze my ass off that winter, and I've...

  • How to Bypass HVAC Thermostat to Test Outside Unit

My neighbor has a HVAC system and the outside unit will not turn on at the thermostat. I can manually push the relay at the outside unit and it will turn on normally, so it's a low voltage problem. There is 24 VDC from the transformer at the thermostat.

My neighbor's nephew is a retired HVAC repairman and he came by and condemn the thermostat, but after I (correctly) wired in the new one, the outside unit will still not turn on.

Against the outside wall, next to the unit, is a "J" box where all the low voltage wiring coming out of the house are connected...

Heat causes system file corruption. Meaning, necessary Windows system files can become corrupt causing any problem imaginable, including freezes, crashes, BSOD's, slowness on boot, etc...

I've also found a connection between overheating and hard drive errors, which can be repaired via the use of "chkdsk".

Also using "msconfig" you can use Selective Startup to disable all non-critical functions. Sometimes you turn off the thing that's broken, as a way of helping to narrow where the...

  • Re: High Capacity Cell Phone Battery

I'm looking for the highest capacity battery I can find. And I want to be able to test the battery in order to prove that it is as high capacity as the manufacturer claims, using a test that is accurate and reliable. Secondarily, I want to explore making my own supplemental battery in the 5,000 to 10,000 mAh range. It needs to be small for easy concealment.

Thanks, others have also expressed distrust over Chinese batteries and their claims of high-capacity. This is why I am looking for a way to test...

  • Cell Phone Battery Naming Protocol

Specifically, in my case, the BL-5B.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0PG19P7501
Is there any connection between the model name/type of a cell phone battery and it's physical size? I'm trying to pack as much stored power into a GPS Tracker unit, and it takes a BL-5B, but while surfing online I see mentions of other, similarly named batteries like a BL-5C, etc...

I think the GPS unit could take a slightly thicker battery, and the thinking is the larger the physical size the greater the power storage...

I've seen those "Ultrafire" batteries being sold and they are what I'm suspicious of.

Both of these posts confirm for me that I should be suspicious, but again it goes back to finding an accurate testing method to know for certain.

The tracker I'm looking at is a TK102B, which comes with 2 BL-5B batteries and a charger. You can get either an 890 mAh battery, or a 1000 mAh battery. The first test I've done using the 1000 mAh battery got about 100 hours of functional life,...

  • Re: ASUS K8N will turn on for 2 seconds then turn off

I see those symptoms when I forget to plug-in the extra, 4-pin supplemental power connector to the motherboard. Forget what it's called. Fans "lurch", then shutdown. I agree with OP's reasoning. If it complains about the absence of RAM, then the problem might not be catastrophic. SOMETHING is working in there. Only thing I could suggest is to give the motherboard a VERY close inspection top & bottom and look for signs of overheating, etc...

  • Re: High Capacity Cell Phone Battery

Thanks I didn't know there was such a thing as a 5V/USB "power bank". Do you have a link, or searchable text?

Also, the charger in the link provided has a 2000 mAh limit, and one battery I've found (so far) claims to hold up to 2950 mAh. My understanding of batteries and how they work is admittedly weak, but I am suspicious of a charger that claims to be able to report how much power is being stored on a battery as it is charging. It might be accurate, but I'd like to know why rather than take the manufacturer's...
