  • Re: Magnavox 50MF231D/37

Check all Pico-Fuses and all other Fuses all Good. Replaced SSB main board and now has red led light on and flashes code 8. I believe the SSB main board is bad on the 1.2 volt power supply. and not able to convert signal. Thank you Badcaps Veteran tw2005 for all your help. the power supply to the EFG boards is good and power on X and Y board is Good. I will get another board and try again!

  • Re: Magnavox 50MF231D/37

I was examining the Y main board and found two Voltage adjustments caps dose anyone know how to check and adjust these voltage board # are (VR5000 or V85000) and (VR500 or V8500) have added picture too! If voltage is off 2V maybe shut down start up process?
Does any one know how to check and adjust these voltage levels? Thanks from jhd2112...

Check The F and G boards and found pin 4 labeled 35 Volts. But on board E, pin 2 is labeled 30 Volts. Check a lot of stuff but only thing I know is TV screen does not Light but can use remote and enter service mode and just get a blinking Green power on light on front panel. Screen does nothing but stay black. All Boards with LED green lights seem to turn on. Main signal board has two green lights lit, power supply one green lit, logic board has three led lights, power side green and two leds on left side one lights then second lights and blinks and first...

  • Re: Trouble getting to capacitors. Magnavox 50mf231D/37

The location looks hard, but it is easy to do. Just use thin angled wire pliers. Heat bottom, pop out first pin, heat second pin and pop out. Pop out both Caps then slide cap in place because it will slide past the other cap blocking the way in, then use wire pliers insert cap wires in holes pull tight and cap will stand up. Solder from bottom. Good Luck, hope it moves quick

If the SSB board was bad, what symptom would it produce? Just grabbing at straws! Hope to get lucky.

Yea that’s is what I thought, I was figuring the E-buffer board was splitting the Va
65.5v power in half so pin two was labeled 30v so at ground it would be 30 to 32.5volts it is labeled 30v. I will check all the labels on the other boards tomorrow and post what I find. I could be chasing that ghost you told me about. Thank you for the help

“I think you may be chasing a ghost. From what I see at the PSU end there are only 3 of those pins connected, 1,3,5. Viewed from the top at CN8005, left to right, first pin Va , 2nd NC, 3rd 5V, 4th NC, 5th gnd”

Yes I barrowed the Ground from power supply to test jumper wires because pins are pretty tight, (I wanted to avoid a short) but uses same supply for voltage test. All power leads tested well at power supply. I know PSU is good but TV is stuck in Stand By Mode

Pins are listed on board E to F jumper with volts listed on board. that is on E board pin 2 has low volts i believe.

I checked voltage at lower power supplied board have power there 5.16 volts but check power at first jumper wire ground good has 5.16 pin 3 but does not have 30V at pin 2. Are these the Y sus buffer boards they go across the bottom of TV?

  • Re: Philips 50 inch plasma power supply problem

Search Tom66 on forum because he has a list of where to get service manuals for your TVs. I read all of his advice because he a true Blue Veteran on plasma repair. scince he read your post, so he might send you the link. Randtek on the forum opening page has a link to tom66 Plasma tv library, because that is where I got mine, and it is free. I allways chose to donate money to pay for the vast supply of manual on line. Good luck

  • Re: Help Samsung PN43D490A1D

First Go To Randtek in forum. open his link in forum called Trouble shooting Plasma TV by Tom66. Tom66 has links to get service manuals for Plasma TVs. They have all the information you might need. I have read most of there links and they are true blue TV Veterans. I would be lost with out them. I hope you get your set up and running soon.
your second picture has the power supply voltage listed and you can find key location on power supply board to test them but first get a service manual for TV. Thanks and good luck, hope you are eating popcorn...

    started a topic Newbie Magnavox

    Newbie Magnavox

Hello my name is Joe and I am working on a Magnavox 50MF231D/37 that I got for Free! it had bad power supply because it smoked two capacitors 35V 470uF 105C replaced. I got power to all boards and adjusted all voltage to right settings + or - 2v. I do not have video or sound but the normal boards light up but the asic main logic board has one led power side light on and on start up one lower light has two leds one lights and goes out and the other starts flashing. Is the main logic board fried?
I know that there is suppose to be power protection mode but that usually shut down the start...
