Re: Vizio e322vl - no back light and no picture
Well I looked at the symptoms in the link you posted for EEPROM. I'm getting something that doesn't match exactly with what they have. As you can see in the picture, I get power on and the backlights come on. But I also get a picture that is distorted. Maybe it's still the EEPROM?...

Vizio e322vl - no back light and no picture
The set will do the blinking orange/white on plug in and power on, but once it finishes and I hit the power button, it doesn't give a picture. I've confirmed there is an issue with the main board as I have an identical set and swapped the mainboards to get it working properly.
I've also found there is 12V missing on the F1 fuse. Voltages on a few other components and test points don't align either. I'm having trouble tracing it back to the source though. Any pointers?...

Re: Sharp LC37SB24u won't stay on
Yes, good observation Bud. I wonder if the pin without a label might be BL-ON.
Any ideas for a starting point of what I can test? Is there a way I can fake out the circuit protection to make it act like the inverter is plugged in?
I haven't messed with backlights much. What would happen if I remove the ones that are not functioning and power it on?...Last edited by jakeklem; 03-31-2015, 10:25 PM.

Briefly yes, but it will not stay functional....

Re: Sceptre x46bv bright white screen. main or t-con?
I'm debating whether this is worth further troubleshooting/repair or if I should purchase a t-con board. I'm not sure what the GAMMA IC Vref is. Can anyone provide some insight?Last edited by jakeklem; 03-30-2015, 11:56 PM.

Re: Sceptre x46bv bright white screen. main or t-con?
Thanks for the replies guys.
This looks like the data sheet for the chip:

I'm not sure how to make sense of it as the pin labels don't match up with what's in the table.
I assume either of the below would suffice as replacements if it is infact a bad chip

Re: Sceptre x46bv bright white screen. main or t-con?
Here's we go. It fails according to the spreadsheet. How certain is it? Is this something I can repair at the board level or is it better to just buy a new t-con?
Volt 1 15
Volt 2 0.45
Volt 3 0.7
Volt 4 4.46
Volt 5 4.5
Volt 6 4.48
Volt 7 9.95
Volt 8 12.6
Volt 9 13
Volt 10 13.2
Volt 11 13.2
Volt 12 1.38
Volt 13 1.48
Volt 14 1.38
Volt 15 0.95
Volt 16 0.95
Volt 17 0.95
Volt 18 0.9...

Re: Sceptre x46bv bright white screen. main or t-con?
I'm having a very similar problem. Picture is all washed out. I'll have to check voltages when I get home and plug them into Tom's gamma spreadsheet. I can get better pictures too if needed. Oh and the horizontal bars only show up on camera, I'm not seeing them with the naked eye....

Re: Vizio VA320E amber light won't go white
Ok. What are the risks of leaving it as is, without a capacitor there?

Re: Vizio VA320E amber light won't go white
Off the board, it reads 6.6 M ohms. I installed the circuit board with that capacitor off and tried it out. TV turned right on.

The larger, black one in the middle is reading 0 ohms. Any ideas for a replacement?

Re: Vizio VA320E amber light won't go white
See attached. It's just the switch assembly. IR is separate.
Do you want a close up of any portion of the board?...

Re: Vizio VA320E amber light won't go white
AHa! You're on to something bud. With the connector off, the pin reads 3.2v. The regulator in question also measured 3.2v. So is this a shorted switch or the circuit board the switch is attached to?

Re: Vizio VA320E amber light won't go white
Oh I forgot to mention. I bought a main board off ebay that is supposed to be in working order. However, I get the same results with it. I suppose there is a chance that both boards have exactly the same problem, but is there something else I could look at on another board?

Re: Vizio VA320E amber light won't go white
After messing with this thing a little more, I found that the output voltage for the first regulator at U708 had a 3.2v output. I'm not sure what I did to make it show that voltage, but it only happened in one instance of plugging in/ unplugging the set.
Is it possible this regulator is still good? Could something else be causing the fault?

Re: Sharp LC37SB24u won't stay on
How might I bypass the protection mode? I want to see if it will stay on without the CCFL.
