Re: Egg turner
Good spot on the colour change redwire, i didn't notice that, i must go to specsavers one day and get my eyes tested LOL
So now we are getting somewhere, the Violet wire from the switch has been cut ! He can see the end of it hidden in the middle of the wires (cable tied together).
So i bet you are correct about the motor being changed too redwire.
Cheers

Re: Egg turner
Hmmmm looking at that picture, the violet wire is at a funny angle to be connected in that block, don't you think ?

Re: Egg turner
From the switch the wires just connect to each other via a standard block mounted to the roof of the box.
The synchronous motors i have seen on youtube that connect via a toggle switch like this are for "reverse - off - forward".
When the switch is in the "level" position the motor stops. He has swapped the connections on the switch to eliminate the switch from being at fault....

Egg turner
A mate has this egg turner/incubator thing. Part of it has never worked. It has a toggle switch "Level" - "Off" - "Turn"
The part that has never worked is the "Level" bit, apparently this is meant to speed the motor up so that the egg trays can be removed, you still have to wait and stop the motor manually when the trays are level, as it is now he has to wait hours (Turn position) for the trays to get to where he can get them out.
A few pics he sent me.A mate has this egg turner/incubator thing. Part...

Why this modification ?
Iam a newbie when it comes to this electronics stuff.
Now i have two radio/cd players that are the exact same model but have different revisions for the PCB.
I just wondered what the thinking was for the extra Diode on the newer pcb ?

TECHNIKA 2481LED40 LK-SP416002A Power Supply
I have a cheap Technika led tv that started to play up yesterday. At random intervals it will make you jump with a loud crack from the speakers and for a millisecond across the centre of the screen will go fuzzy.
The top of the power supply board looks ok.
I did spot something on the underside though, DS6 looks to be a bit fried. Anyone know what it is please ?

Re: Do Not Power Off - SCAN loop (quick fix)
Just having another look at this today.
I think this might have something to do with the spooky goings on with the source menu.
The wires from the Buttons PCB. It was laying across a screw hole when i opened it up.
My fault i think...

Re: Do Not Power Off - SCAN loop (quick fix)
An interesting development.
If you so much as nudge the tv, the Input Source menu will appear and the tv will scroll up and down the Source list in a random fashion until it sees fit to select one.
Same thing if you touch the HDMI lead or plug anything else into it like headphones or scart.
About the SPI flash programmer. I have a few old (very) programmers somewhere.
I have found this LPT thing, iam sure i used this to read and write eeproms a million years ago...

Re: Do Not Power Off - SCAN loop (quick fix)
It's my old man's tv so i will definitely report back if/when the error returns Tom.
I have a question, if the eeprom is corrupt and that is why they get stuck in a SCAN loop and we need to buy a pre-programmed chip, then how did this eeprom work again ?

Do Not Power Off - SCAN loop (quick fix)
39" E-motion LCD TV
Model: 39/66G-GB-3B.FTCU-UK.
This had the fault of getting stuck on the "Do not power off" "SCAN" loop each time the tv was turned on.
I was all set for replacing a corrupt eeprom after reading various posts here and via google. So i had the tv apart to write down the board numbers and to give it a good visual check over.
Everything looked fine. Anyway while i had it apart i thought i would give the eeproms and the SMD components around them a minute or two blast with my heat gun.
