Re: Need help identifying cap.
so I looked at these "improved/custom" PSU from the classic, fully discrete Bozak CMA-10-2D rotary mixer, using Nichicon MUSE series... but which one?... ok, another question is, are these caps for audio purposes? they can't be Nichicon's "ES" because his rated capacitance range goes from 0.47 to just 1000μF, and the ones green plated from the PSU pictures are 2200uf/50v, so they must be other serie of MUSE...
and also the second PSU...Last edited by BrainKaos; 03-28-2015, 08:54 PM.

Re: Need help identifying cap.
Yes I think so, and I am seriously looking to these ones for recapping just one channel of the mixer and make some tests...
Bi-polarized “nichicon MUSE” acoustic series. *** Suited for audio signal circuits. *** ...
if I am successfull, i will also recap the master output module, test again... and finally recap all remaining modules.

Re: Need help identifying cap [recapping project].
I am looking this information because I am planning to recap my dj mixer, and it's a good one: Formula Sound PM-90, fully modular, from 1990, made in UK, multiple award winner.
It has been built with some UK made electrolytic caps called NoVer...
I will start with the external PSU (+18v/-18v/+6v)... It has three original NoVer 2200uf/40v, two small Philips 100uf/63v -which are not original (they where recapped before I buyed my unit from second-hand)-, and finally a little NoVer 100uf/25v....Last edited by BrainKaos; 03-28-2015, 01:38 PM.

Re: Need help identifying cap.
I also see a Roland TR808 with some maroon colored Elna's in the power supply, that had been replaced/upgraded by the TK Jovial's... then lot's of the Nichicon's MUSE & Fine Gold, but I also see some TK's in the signal path...
maybe they just sound cool? ...

Re: Need help identifying cap.
hahaha! me too...
I am trying to figure out which are the caps used in all these projects (Section: ***Audio Equipments Mod/Improve***): http://meta-design.biz/modify.html
now I now at least the TK Jovial, Nichicon MUSE, and also saw some FG series...
as I said, still researching... Re: Need help identifying cap.<br />...d/Improve***):...

Re: Need help identifying cap.
indeed... it's a shame.
I have a Crown amplifier here, that I love, not just because of his sound, but of his rock-solid build quality. Like tanks...
It's so far the most rugged thing I have here in my home...
I attached some pictures I took while cleaning the unit first day arrived to home.... nice beefy power supply, and... look those "little" caps, mate!
pd: I pray not to need to replace them in my whole life....

Re: Need help identifying cap.
hahaha...
well... the funny thing is that I thought these capacitors were of high quality, because I have seen them in some projects to improve high-end audio equipment (mainly in power supplies) for dj's, like the old Bozak or Urei classic rotary mixers, etc...

Re: Need help identifying cap.
Thanks, but I can't take any pictures... I grabbed these ones from the Internet, they are part of a recaping/upgrade project of a japanese dj mixer (Vestax)
yeah, I guess they are Nichicon MUSE...
Thank you!

Need help identifying cap.
Hello,
Can someone please help me identifying these "silver" colored electrolytic capacitors?
I can read "Jo" and "ail", but I don't know what brand can be... I think they are Japanese capacitors, and of good quality, huh?
Thank you, guys
Best regards,...

Re: Allen & Heat, Xone 92 - Dj Mixer - Leaking signal from any channel to all others.
well, I found another user with the same problem and says that ""This is fault that Allen&Heath can't fix. I have the same problem. They exchange the mixer and is still the same so they blame my setup. The problem is related to grounding system...""

Re: Allen & Heat, Xone 92 - Dj Mixer - Leaking signal from any channel to all others.
Here's a video showing the power supply. It seems to be in good shape.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDeRopyNzZc
We have noticed this PSU comes with Aishi, CapXon and Jamicon capacitors.
So, are this crapcaps? shall we replace them?Re: Allen & Heat, Xone 92 - Dj Mixer...RopyNzZc...

ok, we are going to start checking voltages in the power supply.

Thank you vey much for your reply, budm
Yes, it seems.
yes, you are rigth, It started suddenly...
PD: another thing we noticed is when you saturate the signal in the channel that has music, and you press the PFL/CUE button of any other channel that has no audio on it, you can hear some crackle/click/noise on the channel that is playing music, and the VU meter at the top of the mixer starts to illuminate as as if he were receiving an input...Last edited by BrainKaos; 02-19-2015, 06:41 PM.

Allen & Heat, Xone 92 - Dj Mixer - Leaking signal from any channel to all others.
Hello,
I have a friend who is experiencing a problem on his "Allen & Heath Xone 92" dj mixer.
So the problem is when he turns up the fader of any channel that is playing music, all the other channels in the mixer start lighting their audio VU meters like if you were playing from the same source, blinking the red led's up to -30db. I mean the other channels seems to receive the same signal of whatever the channel that is playing music.
I leave a video showing the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKD_-Lzfi84...Last edited by BrainKaos; 02-19-2015, 02:24 PM.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hello!!
Im from Spain, and I am here because I have an old Formula Sound PM90 dj mixer made in UK on 1991, which has gave me lots of hours of pleasure because of his very open sound...
Here it is:
Yes I love my old mixer... ... hehe, and so I want to learn how to maintain it fully healthy (I mean the sound quality).
I guess I need to replace all the capacitors, but I think they are discontinued (the manufacturer is NoVer), so I...
