That's what I've thought too, but the fact they're not constant...that they move, has me wondering. I'm going to clean and reseat all the connections and see if anything changes. Thanks...

LG 60uh614a horizontal lines
I've got a 60uh615a that has random horizontal lines, but they jump around and shuffle. Sometimes there are "square-ish" "boxes" that appear and disappear. Does this sound like a bad panel, or is a t-con board a possible culprit?
Thanks,

Re: un55es6100 full time hum
It was coming from the speakers. I unplugged the set a few times before I posted on here, but the buzz came back each time. After I posted I went back to check the things you suggested, but when I plugged it back in (after sitting for quite a while) the noise was gone. I'm expecting it to return...will update when it does. Thanks

un55es6100 full time hum
Hey all, we've got a Samsung un55es6100 that's started humming through the speakers, even when the power's off. The tv still functions as it should. Main board issue most likely?

Re: Vizio E601i
I did not. The tv worked when I powered up, and the next time, no picture again (fried the new tcon). I'll get busy on it again tonight and try to keep folks posted on progress....

Re: Vizio E601i
Yes, one cable on each side that comes out of the tcon, then two more ribbons on each side to the bottom boards. Bear with me, please. Do I pick a side and disconnect both ribbon cables on one side, then check the tv? Or just one at a time on each side?...

Re: Vizio E601i
Just took another look. I pulled tabs on an older Samsung several years ago (first one by accident, then the rest to even things up). These are a bit narrower, so I wasn't seeing them. I'm still not seeing the 3/4 cable. I'd rather not go pulling tabs on one side or the other without determining the "guilty" side.
And thanks for sticking with me on this round of problems, Bud....

Vizio E601i
Hey folks, I originally posted this as an E701, which I know is the same generation as this 601, but I'm still having issues, and I can't find the place for the "fix". Here's a link to my original
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=74311
The set suffered a lightning strike a year or so back. It fried the HDMI ports, but the set still worked through other inputs, until 6 or 8 weeks ago, when the picture died. I replaced the main board, and then the tcon, and got a picture, although it seemed "out of phase", like the color...

Re: E701i-A3 issue(s)
New t-con got here today. I'd really like to test things before I hook it up. Are there voltages I can check, in/out, with my primitive gear, before I hook this one up? Link?

Re: E701i-A3 issue(s)
Unfortunately, as I'm getting older, I don't see things quite as well as I used to
Are you asking about the main board? The original board that was dead doesn't have anything on it (that I can see) that looks anything like burnt or blown.
Should I plan on a t-con at this point, or are you thinking there's damage further in?
And "three legged things" is about how I need it explained on this...

Re: E701i-A3 issue(s)
I just now got to looking at the pic. That jobber on the left..is that the guy that gets fried when there's a panel fault? Looks like it's had it's better days.

Re: E701i-A3 issue(s)
I appreciate all the help (and patience) from everybody here. Thank you much for sticking it out with me so far.
What is the "FET", and how do I check it? How do I check voltages on the t-con?...

Re: E701i-A3 issue(s)
Second replacement board got here today, but does the same thing. Backlights come on, "V" present, but a bit to the right of the screen, vertical lines all the way across, then lines go away and leave the panel dark. Pressing any buttons on the remote or side control brightens the backlights momentarily, but after a few seconds they drop back down. I've tried blindly changing the input through the remote (with a video source hooked up to hdmi), but can't tell if anything changes, and I get no sound with any of it. I've disconnected the t-con, one...

Re: E701i-A3 issue(s)
I've found the correct board (216). The seller of this first, incorrect board has offered to take it back, providing it's undamaged. Is there a chance that me installing and powering up the tv with this "wrong" board have hurt this board?

Re: E701i-A3 issue(s)
So it's not just the board number, it's some sort of software ID on the sticker I need to match up?...

Re: E701i-A3 issue(s)
I went off the one in white letters printed on the board. The only bar code is on a sticker on the wifi card.
Edit, now I'm seeing another scan-able tag. The numbers are different from mine....Last edited by vbrad511; 01-27-2019, 09:53 AM.

Looks like I'll have to do a little more self-educating to be able to do all this....

Re: E701i-A3 issue(s)
The ones coming out of the tcon, heading to the panel. However, the "new" board got here today. Installed, fired up, got a batch of vertical lines from the left side all the way to the right side, in pattern, and the Vizio "V", off to the right of the screen a bit. Then it all goes off, then back on without the V a few times, then back to a dark screen. I've also realized this is a 60", and not a 70", but the board numbers are the same. I've seen Samsung use the same boards on a few different models, so I'm hoping...

Re: E701i-A3 issue(s)
Nope. Just fired it up again after reading your comment. Backlights continue to flash, that's it. New main board should be here Monday. I'm hoping there isn't some deeper issue....
